I'll be heading down to San Diego over Easter weekend and staying off Hotel Circle. I plan on going to Pizza Port OB and Alpine while I am there. I'm looking for recs for a third stop that is not in North County. Ballast Point on Linda Vista and Societe (never had any of their beers) are the two front runners. Thanks in advance.

Societe, or Toronado. Toro exceeds Hamiltons

flip a coin between Societe and Coronado. and then flip a coin between the winner and Ballast point... Science!
Also, go to Bottle Craft. don't ask questions, just do it.

Are you dead set on a place that has its own beers, or can it be a beer bar as well?

Ballast Point in Linda Vista is a tiny storefront, more suited for growler fills. The tasting room at their Old Grove production site (in Scripps Ranch) is going to be more up your alley.

Societe & sneak a quick trip in to O'Brien's. Try Tom's torta, best sando in town.

I choose Society between the two. However, unless you have some tight constraint there is no reason you cannot do both. The Ballast point location is small tasters, and it is close to PPOB, so you could do those in the same day. Since everyone else is piling on the recommendations, I would like to add pairing up Societe and O'Brien's the same day is easy. Go to Societe right when they open, try a few things (they do samples), then head over to O'Brien's for lunch, they usually have a bunch of great hoppy stuff (including RR, Alpine, Bear Republic, and Societe)

I would recommend hitting Alesmith. If you want to make two stops that day, the Ballast Point Old Grove location is nearby.

I hope you have both Friday and Saturday available, because most if not all these places will be closed on Easter Sunday, and combining Alpine and PPOB in a single day will pretty much eliminate the chances of getting anywhere else.

We arrive fairly early on Friday. Most likely do PP on Friday night and Alpine on Saturday. Sunday will be spent at the zoo.

You probably had a stroke, which explains why you recommended Coronado.

It sounds like you can do Alpine for lunch on Saturday, then hit Societe and O'Brien's when you get back down the hill. However, people have missed a very important option. Since you will already be in environs east, perhaps you should make a stop at the El Cajon Brewing Company on your way back from Alpine [note: please read the thread which I've linked on ECBC].

There's no need to hit two beer bars and Toro > O'fatties 8 days a week.

On Friday you could do Ballast Point for tasters (only, no pints there), then slide over to Coronado's new location and they've got 20 taps, then hit PPOB for dinner.

Saturday get up early and arrive at Alpine when the pub opens, buy bottles at the brewery, have lunch + beers, then roll back down the hill to Societe and finish up at Toro.

3 places each day and very doable. On the way out of town stop by BottleCraft in Little Italy (or walk over to the one near Toro) and get some bottles to pack in your bags.

If you're looking for a shit-load of craft beer on tap/bottles and great food I'd go to Slaters 50/50. If you're looking for a brewery I'd suggest Societe. Cheers and have a blast in the Diego!
