Hey there, I'm a big Packers fan and will be in Portland next weekend on vacation. The Packers play in the Sunday night game, so I'm thinking there won't be much competition for having the game on, but most of the cool beer bars I've seen don't have TVs. Wondering if there's anywhere to go where I can drink some local beers and watch the game. As an aside, Arcadia would be a great option as my wife isn't huge into sports and we can play games during "the game," but I worry their TVs are only set up for console games. Thanks for any guidance!
The Little Tap House has maybe the best local list in the city in my opinion, and they have a couple TVs right in front of the bar. It's also not just a beer bar, it's a nice little spot, so your wife might enjoy it as well. King's Head has TVs as well, and has a solid local list. Also very good pub grub type of food, the Shepard's Pie is great. This is the typical "go-to" people recommend for a mix of local beer and sports in Portland. I forget if Mash Tun has TVs, but the first time I went there they had a large pull down screen showing the Sox game. They have an excellent local list, right up there with Little Tap House, but I'm not sure they'd whip out the screen for the Packers game. Maybe they would because it's the Sunday night game and/or they have it up for football all day long? I also think Gritty's has TVs, don't quote me on that, I've only been there once. But I remember seeing Sunday night football on the TVs there when I was up there last fall. However they obviously only have Gritty's beer.
Just an FYI, Giants-Cowboys is the Sunday night game. Packer Game is at 4:00, but should be the national TV game so most places will get the game even if they don't have NFL Sunday ticket. That said I second the Little Tap House...Great Place.
Mash Tun has TVs in both rooms. When I was there this summer they were playing the little league world series even though the Red Sox were on so I left after one round. I think Kings Head only has one TV so you might not get the game you want. Little Tap House has two tvs. Slab would be a good option too.
I second Bingas, my friends and I were there over Columbus Day weekend, and caught the Sox and the McGregor fight. Good sports with a decent tap list.
