The Boston Hive will launch on July 1st. There will be a limited membership for our first 6 month season to work out the kinks, so first come first serve. We have already admitted a number of folks who asked to be on the waiting list while we worked with our distribution partner on logistics.

Please visit our website to get more detailed information and on the Boston Hive and to sign up for a membership http://www.planbeefarmbrewery.com/the-boston-hive/

Some info on Plan Bee Farm Brewery:

At Plan Bee Farm Brewery our mission is to brew 100% New York State ingredient beer. We source all our ingredients from the state of New York with many grown on site. Our beers go from ground to glass within measurable feet of their origins. Our goal is to work with local businesses to produce a delicious product for the community we serve.

Our beers are created by the limitation of local resources. From the yeast we cultivate from our honey comb, to the grain and hops in our fields, if it isn’t in our community it doesn’t enter our beer. We don't focus on "styles" instead we aim to discover what our climate and agriculture produces - and they tend to be true farmhouse ales all with wild yeast that are light, tart and sometimes a little funky. Our beers are most similar to saisons and fruited sours.

We define ‘local’ as that which grows in New York State, if not on our farm. Over the course of the next few years we will work tirelessly to reduce the radius of our sourced ingredients. The goal is to be able to say, “I planted & processed everything in this beer personally.”

There will be a Plan Bee tasting at Crafted in Holliston, MA on Saturday the 25th from 3-5pm. http://www.crafted-ma.com/#craftbeer

Really interested in this, but 6 bottles/mo is way more than I need. That breaks down to $590 for the 6 month membership. If anyone wants to split one, I'd be game. PM to discuss!

This is really exciting, glad it all worked out. Can't wait to enjoy these beers. Also, Crafted is an awesome shop, and I think the members are really going to like it if it's not one they frequent.

I picked up bottles over the weekend. Other than getting out there, it couldn't have been easier and Crafted is a great shop.

Maybe I missed the fine print, but I was surprised when they told me I had to take all six bottles or none. I assumed I could just grab a few if I didn't want the full allotment and the rest would wind up on the shelf there. That said, if anyone wants to split my membership, PM me to discuss.

What exactly are you confused about? It clearly states that there are two tiers of membership, 6 bottle and 12 bottle

Surprised, not confused. You can skip an allotment, in which case I assume beers go on the shelf, so I was surprised that either Crafted or Plan Bee or both decided that you couldn't take less than the full six bottles.

I'm picking up July and August in one shot this upcoming week. They won't hit shelves until after the 15th. 45 days to pick up each allotment.

So how are their wild ales? I haven't heard much about them but they sound great.

I've had about 40 Plan Bee beers and would say they range from interesting to great. They definitely are willing to experiment quite a bit and not everything will be for everybody's palate (e.g., a pickle beer). In the past I also thought some of the beer was released a little bit too early (probably a function of physical capacity) but that was before the new brewery.
I've really been enjoying the fruited sours as of late - Precious (apricots), Nectar (nectarines), KarnL (cherries).

Thanks for the info...I am in! Lets hope that there are still spots in the Boston Hive and things get up and running quickly so I can maybe grab the July/August allotment soon.
