I'm going to NJ in a couple weeks to visit family, and thought one of my days with not much going on I'd go down to Philly. I'd like to stop at Bella Vista and The Craft Beer Outlet, but would like some recommendations on brewpubs to go to that sell their beers bottled so I can take them home. I appreciate the help.

You might as well check out Beer Heaven while you are here too. Not the cheapest of bottle shops, but a serious selection...

How does it compare to Craft Beer Outlet's selection? I was just going by what I read on the BA directory.

I think beer heaven has a much better selection and both are way overpriced but I still go to them if that says anything

Craft beer outlet gives me a chub, beer heaven basically gets me pitching a tent... Sorry for the graphic comparison, but that's what I got for ya.

If you have time for a bar you have to go to Monk's.

Does not bottle, which was one of the criteria the OP set forth. However, there are growlers, and the beer is almost obnoxiously good.

And if the timing is right, they could have bottles for sale!

I'm planning a trip out there next week. Any chance of Parabola in the area? Also gonna hit Tired Hands, but it looks like they ran out of growlers last week ... hope that's not an issue when I swing through!

If you bring "non-brewery specific" growlers you'll be fine.

People buy their growlers like they're giving them away so this happens somewhat often. Typically they receive a new shipment the following week, but I would check their FB/Twitter for an update before you make a trip over. Also, if you have a blank or non-brewery specific growler they should fill that as well (it cannot be clear glass).

Dock Street releases bottles every now and then. I don't know if you can walk in on a random day and pick one up or if they're sold out on release day but as far as Brewpubs that bottle Dock Street, Iron Hill and Tired Hands are the only ones I know of. And Tired Hands bottle releases are big too-dos and I don't know if you can take Iron Hill bottles to-go.

When is "a couple weeks?" Philly Beer Week is in 5 weeks if the 'when' is flexible.
