A friend and myself are planning a trip that will take us to microbreweries in different states. We will start out in St. Louis and travel through Nashville and Little Rock then on to Dallas and OKC. Sure, I can find microbrews on google, but I was hopIng some locals could give me some suggestions on the places with the best beer. Food suggestions would help too. Any info is appreciated, Adam
As for Nashville, we only have a couple. Jackalope and Yazoo are located right outside the city and practically right next to each other. Because they are so close, it would make sense to hit both easily. Yazoo offers tours on Saturdays. We also have some brewpubs that are decent, but not sure your interested in those. Lastly, we have a new brewery opening today actually about 20mi south of the city. The brewmaster is from one of the brewpubs and this new place sounds very promising. It's called Turtle Anarchy, hopefully there will be some chatter about it coming soon...
St Louis is a gold mine these days. Urban Chestnut. Perennial. 4 Hands. Civil Life. Six Row. And the veterans: Schlafly (I prefer Tap Room to Bottleworks) and Square One. But you have STL in your handle, so you may know all this already. If I were you, though, I'd consider Louisville and Lexington if you are driving to Nashville. You'll find at least 6 quality stops: New Albanian (across the river in New Albany, IN), BBC, Cumberland, and my favorite, Against the Grain in Louisville. West Sixth and Country Boy in Lexington.
In Little Rock, there is Vino's (pizzas and sandwiches) and Boscos (good food, wide selection). Boscos has a great location in the River Market with a back patio overlooking the Arkansas River. Vino's has an awesome "local" vibe. Diamond Bear Brewery is also in Little Rock and does tours. Their Paradise Porter is excellent.
