Planning a trip to Westvleteren

This is really what it's about. It's not really designed for beer-hunters — it's really just a good ol' Belgian family cafe, which has decided over time to be a bit accommodating to the beer hunters. That in itself is true culture and a beautiful thing. You don't need multiple modes of transport and the better part of a day to find that around the country, of course.

If you would consider renting a car, you could hit several locations at once.
In de Vrede in itself is not really special, but nearby you could visit Dolle Brouwers, (in de vrede) Passendaele (with the cheese too) and The Mash/d'Oude Maelderij (that order). You will pass by Ieper (Menenpoort and "In Flanders Fields")
I'd consider that a day well spent
