That's exactly the vertical my brother and I are doing over Christmas. He's a savor a glass over the course of 2 or 3 hours, so I'm thinking it'll end up with me drinking 3/4 of each bottle. I don't know if I'm looking forward to it or not. When you put it into perspective by counting 12oz "Buds", it really starts to scare me. Just as long as I get my run in before the session starts, I should be golden.

I came up with the "Bud factor" because the big beers I am drawn to are higher ABV, and often bombers. Multiply the ABV by ounces, and divide by 50.4 which is the Bud factor, equivalent to one 12oz Bud. Puts it in perspective when you still plan to drive home, and since most of us started with BMC AALs, it's easier to relate to. Each of us has an idea how many Buds it takes to render us in need of a ride, or incoherent.

When I lived in Leeds, it meant selecting ten Tetley's pubs and drinking a pint of Mild in each of them.

Now I'm older and more sophisticated, I buy a selection of new, exciting Dutch beers I've never tried to drinking in the evening. Then, once I'm home head straight for the St. Bernardus Abt and drink four of them. And one Prior, just to demonstrate to myself I'm not a one-trick pony. It's no wonder my floor is filling up with beer.

My impression is that the "session" in Session beer relates to the two roughly 4 hour periods a day (termed lunch time session and evening session) pubs were allowed to sell alcohol.Session Beer is one you can (and would enjoy) drinking throughout one of these sessions. At the same time pub hours were restricted beer strength was reduced .These two factors drove pub culture for decades.

I always have my Saturday night beers lined up... I make my selections at the store, I’m normally there until 6...spoiler alert, it’s usually an assortment of IPAs

I too, plan before I go out shopping, and try to keep 1-2 beers I can have several of in my fridge as you do. Certainly good to have some variety in the beer fridge. Something I couldn't do much of when I was sharing space in the family fridge!

I think this all depends on how many days during a week you have the opportunity to drink....

I think I'm more on the same page as Dan411 because I really can't drink during the week because the slightest haze or grogginess (if that's a word) takes me off my game at work and I can't afford that...that being said drinking is more of a treat than a daily thing for me so I can appreciate Dan411 planning it all out....

Oh, definitely. A beer fridge just makes life so much easier.

Naw, I go with what mood I'm in, or what I've in the fridge, or what is on tap. Shrug. YMMV.

I usually map out my evening, knowing what beers I'll have, starting with lower ABV. Typically, it goes out the window as soon as I open the fridge for my 2nd beer.

My tastes change mid-beer, each beer.. so I spend most of the night standing at the refrigerator.. looking for the beer that yells 'take me!" the loudest.

I really wish I was kidding about this.. because I can't plan on what to buy most nights.

I do plan things to a certain degree. Ideally on the weekend, I like to drink a few cans of something, usually IPAs, but not always. Then one of small bottles, usually a sour, not always. Finally either finish off with a growler or big bottle of something, and spread over 2 or 3 days.
Sometimes I just drink what I find though...

I like to plan EVERYTHING about beer - when I’ll be making my next trip to the beer store, what I’m going to try to score, how that will mix with what I’ll already have, when I’ll drink what ..... it’s a whole production, man.

For example, I have planned what I’m going to have (or parts of what I’m going to have) for NBS for at least the next month.

    At least.
