Okay, I've been avoiding them all this time fearing that the vessel would somehow negatively affect the taste of the beer. I bought a plastic Howler today and the export/dry Stout tasted just fine.

Have you folks had any negative experiences with them with lighter beers?

    TIA.

Using Nalgene bottles as growlers is common around here.

I’ve never seen a plastic growler here, all glass.

It's a brand of soft and flexible plastic that was originally used in labware, like the soft squeeze-bottles used for decanting alcohol or water.

These are rigid. Usually used for hiking, camping, etc.

I've never seen those before, but, I don't get out much. As long as it's food-grade plastic, I wouldn't worry about off-flavors.

I've seen old ceramic whiskey bottles used ,as well as some apple juice glass gallon jugs, but never ever plastic. Seems like a terribly hard thing to keep flavors pure and clean from serving to serving.

It didn't affect the taste of the Stout, to the best of my knowledge, that's why I asked if it would for more delicate beer styles.

As I mentioned upthread, as long as its food-grade plastic, there shouldn't be an issue. Ever see a plastic keg?

Party Pigs were available locally at one point and the beers in them were just fine. I reckon that I just answered my own question.
