Going upstate this weekend for a couple days, any reccomendations on micro breweries up there? Also looking for a good beer distributor that might have some stuff I can't get downstate. Thanks!
Alchemist is holding a pop-up in vt. Hour drive, or so. Livingoods in Peru has a great selection of beers.
Thanks. I considered making the trip to Waterbury but I just realized we are actually going to Lake Placid, not Plattsburg which makes the Alchemist a little too far out of the way. Seems like Lake placid has a couple microbrews as well as saranac nearby, but as for getting any Heady Topper I think Im out of luck.
I live in saranac lake. Over here you have Fusion Market and the Lake View Deli. LVD has a smaller selection but way better prices... Great sandwiches, too. Fusion is high priced and their prices just went up. Every once in a while they get Gandhi Bot or some other nice bottles. Nothing you probably can't get downstate though. As far as breweries, we have Blue Line Brewery which is not very good. Lake placid has the Pub & Brewery and Great Adirondack Brewing Co. Which is a part of the Steak and Seafood restaurant. Both of those are ok, but nothing too great. I would recommend Liquids and Solids for food/beer selection. It's a gastropub/ tapas style restaurant. Prices are a bit high, but the food is unique and tasty. They usually have some good beer on draught as well as some nice bottles. Whichever store you go to, look for dates on your IPA's. All stores carry super old IPA's.
