I saw this sign last week and it was funny, but I plugged the words into two translation programs and neither could do much with it. Can anyone tell me what it's saying? Danke.

"Try it, then....[?] it" Not sure what the verb "spüren" might be.

Great illustration -- I like that the little guy drinking the beer is giving out more sound than the big guy with the fruit cocktail drink -- little guy is "feeling it."

But it's good advertising... and not on the TV.

I Agree. It's a great slogan, but by a horrible beer that's also Einheitsplörre, Fernsehbier, etc. it's a "kult" (iconic) beer from Hamburg, mainly St. Pauli team supporters if memory is correct.
    Per Wikipedia: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bavaria_–_St._Pauli_Brewery
So, owned by a foreign conglomerate. They really need ads to sell this beer outside of Hamburg, for it's very bad. Nonetheless, "Hauptsache Arschkalt" literally means: the main thing - ass cold. Arschkalt figuratively means cold as hell. Get the joke now? IMO, this is like Coors selling how cold their beer needs to be, mainly because one would taste all the horrific flavors when it's warmer. My rule of thumb is that any beer colder that must be colder than 40F or 5C to be drunk is crap beer. Though the ad's really funny as a play on words, it just reinforces the fact it's crap beer, at least to me.

I thought we were just on the topic of German beer advertising. Never tried the beer. Don't intend to.

I went to a hip bar in Munich once as it was quite late, the place was a bit like someones house and was full of old TVs and a lot of hipster students, the beer on offer was Astra straight from the bottle.

Some English and Swedish girls convinced me and my buddy to leave Schlenkerla and come with them to a "Mexican" place in Bamberg for some sort of sombrero party. They had crates of Jever stacked floor to (near) ceiling and were selling the bottles for 1 DM each. Good deal, but if it hadn't been for the girls, we would have headed back to Schlenkerla for sure.
