Can't believe im wasting thread space Gonna be working in Pleasonton for 4 days and have 0 idea wtf ima do for beer. Any of you bay area guys have locations? I know i can drive into Oakland or the City but if i dont wanna what the fuck can i do?
Altamont Brew Works and First Street Alehouse in Livermore would be my rec. Caveat, I haven't spent much time in Pleasanton, but plenty in Livermore.
Caps & Taps in Dublin for draft & cans. Porky's Pizza in Pleasanton for a solid taplist and decent pizza (i.e. not worth going out of your way for, but fine given the convenience).
Is Hopyard still open in Pleasanton? Used to have a solid taplist. Porky’s is a good call. Fieldwork has a San Ramon location. Zachary’s deep dish pizza might be worth a look. Beer selection varies with location, but usually isn’t bad, and pie is tasty if you go for deep dish.
Thanks guys. All of you. Also any info on decent bottle shops and taprooms in oakland would be a great help!
Wondrous Brewing in Emeryville (just a bit North of Oakland - excellent WC IPAs and lagers, can't recommend them enough) Sante Adairius Oakland Arbor (just opened this past Saturday, will reopen on Wednesday and hours are still in flux...check their Instagram for the most up-to-date info) The Good Hop Ghost Town and Temescal are both solid, but non-essential since you have limited time. Faction in Alameda has a fantastic view and generally solid beer. Drake's Dealership is a decent choice if you have a bunch of coworkers in tow as they have a lot of draft options + food, but I would much rather drink at Wondrous.
Thank you so much @Xul Any idea what eould be a good spot to hit after landing at Airport? Ill be walking/taking bart from SFO into city for a beer or two and possibly a small haul to keep me warm first night
When you say "into the city" do you mean SF or Oakland? If SF, you can take BART from SFO to Civic Center station, then hit both Cellarmaker and City Beer Store for beer within a few blocks, and there are a handful of good food options in that same radius (Basil Thai and Square Pie Guys for example). Then you can jump back on BART to head over to the East Bay. If you want to take BART directly from SFO to Oakland, then probably Good Hop. It's right on Telegraph and there are tons of restaurants around there. You might have to switch trains at some point in there.
Another easy option after arriving is to get off at 24th St/Mission and have a few pints and a sausage at Rosamunde. Or a burrito at La Taqueria or El Farolito, all within a block or so of the station. Beerbybart.com is a good resource.
God damned nightmare this trip became Lost my ID,Debit Card, Passport, Social after getting off Bart so havent been able to do shit Just buying beer whenever my boy i came with is there so he puts it on company card He's no asshole and says hes down to go anywhere but i dont wanna be abusive. Heading to Porkys now though
That certainly sucks and would put a damper on any trip. Plenty of good stuff on the Porky’s draft list, although not much in the way of big stouts for you. Couple of good porters.
