Has anyone had any quality issues with PtE bottles dates 5/14? I sent three out last week and my trading partner told me the bottles had a very bretty taste with no hop profile. Two week old Pliny is usually a nectar of the gods, so I was shocked to hear this. Has anybody else had or heard of similar issues in recent batches? I'm not trying to cause alarm and question Russian river's QA process, I think they regularly make some of the best offerings in the brewing industry. Is there a way that improper storage at the store I purchased them could cause a bretty flavor? I did grab them out of a cooler. Cheers, Kevin
Not that I have heard of. a.) poor handling by the shipping company b.) shot taste buds c.) lying, and trying to get you to send him more bottles d.) bad batch? Not assuming anyone would do that though.
I think some other dude posted in another thread that the 5/14 batch was one of the best he'd tasted and he always gets a couple bottles from each batch...
I had a couple bottles of 5/14 (I believe it was 5/14 anyway) and it was delicious, not sign of problems at all.
I never saw 5/14 but 5/16 was "normal" PtE. Maybe your partner is in lupulin threshold shift? PtE has no hop profile to a hophead.
Just opened a bottle of PtE from 4-30. Was still tasting and looking good. No floaties yet. I just brewed a batch of PtE from morebeer.com over the weekend. It smells just like the bottles. Cant wait till its ready.
