Not everyone has the same tastes in IPAs. The "best" label goes to what I like the best. And that distinction goes to neither Pliny or Kern.

i could care less if someone BOOs pliny..... i care more that i can't get KERN RIVER in norcal.... i mean can anyone anywhere on earth who does not have a brother who works at the brewery or has an uncle who did patio work for one of the owners GET flippin' KERN?

NO, i don't have a TOTAL WINE. and YES, it takes too much flipping effort to get some pliny. when i see it, i'll have one or two. but some people, buying up pliny is their hobby <<<<< BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Yep, and the one in Redondo Beach. All are suspiciously absent with all price sings removed where they used to be.

It's the best source of information! I get mine here: http://theonion.com

On topic, Just Outstanding is really good, and so is Pliny. Who the fuck cares which one a given person likes better? Assholes, that's who.

Same. I'm not saying Pliny isn't better, but still haha.

If I can pick up 3-day-old Pliny in Seattle on my way home from work, and I can pick up Just Outstanding at some random bottle shop in San Diego County when I don't even know my way around and have less than an hour to do all my Cali beer buying, then neither of these beers can be all that difficult to obtain. Just saying.

The demand for Just Outstanding has made it fairly difficult to find in LA stores. In fact, it was MIA from shelves for several months till about 2 weeks ago. As for Pliny, it's rarely ever out on shelves these days and when shipments come in, there are either bottle limits or the cases sell out in a matter of days.

Sounds like the boo's of homers more-so than the opinions of people who actually know beer. Just Outstanding is a great beer. Going to the extreme of booing someone comparing it to another great beer shows these people are just nut-hugging Pliny because they heard someone talk about the mythical Pliny the Elder one time and nothing can possibly be anywhere near as good.

They probably think 120 Min IPA doesn't taste like paint thinner too. Also, they drop $100 for bottles of ridiculous IPAs that are brewed solely to be the highest abv beers they can be.

    Just my opinion

They were booing because he incorrectly pronounced Pliny.

Moot point. Everyone knows Pliny is only good straight from the fermenter. After that, the hops fade so much, you may as well drain-pour that shit and piss down the drain behind it.

Try a Kern River Just Outstanding IPA. I hear it tastes like Pliny the Elder.

For what it's worth I did a DIPA blind tasting this weekend with the following:
    Pliny
    Heady
    Double Sunshine
    Dreadnaught
    Ninja v Unicorn

    the results were:
    1. Heady
    2. Dreadnaught
    3. DS
    4. NvU
    5. Pliny

I love PtE...but I also love JO, and to complicate it more I love Alpine's Bad Boy, Double Jack, and Heady Topper, and...

why do people have to be soooo up tight about ranking. The only one of these I can say stands apart (IMO) is Bad Boy, but I would never boo or care if someone doesn't agree.

Oh, and I am not that big of a fan of Nelson, let the hate flow

Content aside, that article was fucking painful to read. Just because you know how to string together a bunch of flowery adjectives and adverbs doesn't mean you should.
