Pliny Clone Help

    Can you explain how you are going to do this? I was wondering about doing the same thing.

    It depends on the age of the yeast. You lose a certain percentage every week that it's in storage. A lot of us like to use the Mr Malty calculator: http://www.mrmalty.com/calc/calc.html

    Note that up in the tool bar, you need to enter things like type of beer, OG, and age of the yeast pack. It'll tell you how many cells you have, how many you need, and how large of a starter to make.

    For a 1.072 ale, the estimate would be 260 billion cells. If your smack packs are new, you have about 200. This would be "adequate," if less than ideal. If the smack packs are, say, a month old, you're probably closer to about 150 billion, and a starter would be advisable.
