I get what you're saying and I agree for the most part. My experience was before I moved closer to Santa Rosa and had no way of getting Pliny on the central coast. I had tried it for the first time at Tony's in Burbank while there for work and loved it. I mentioned it to my wife and next time she visited her parents she stopped at a place in Morgan hill to get me a couple. She had no clue what it was supposed to retail for and I found out later she paid 13.99 a bottle. I only found out because I stopped there a month or so later to buy more. It was the only beer in the cooler without a price on it. When the clerk told me the price I was shocked and said no thank you and left. And this was about five years ago.

Fast forward a few months and I was chatting with Natalie at the pub and mentioned it. She takes it very seriously when a store raises the prices and has no problem pulling their account. I know it's the stores choice to raise the price, but it's a dangerous choice if they care about keeping their RR stuff.

I was pissed that a store would do that but all I can do is not give them my business. All this talk has inspired me. I think it's about time to give out some more free Pliny.

And this is why I rarely pay more than $10 for any beer. My wallet doesn't allow me to splurge on something I am going to drink all at once, and drinking away more than that in just a very small sitting isn't financially smart. I could care less if I am impressing anyone or not. I am happy to drink shelf turds, as there are several of them that are great.

$8.99 at Lone Hill in Glendora. Their prices are absurd on most items. On a side note, i recently saw W00t 3.0 there for $15.99!!!
