Will be headed out to Aspen from Michigan this Friday. Any tap rooms around there or Denver that have that Pliny the Elder on tap? I already checked Beer Menus and it shows nothing. Any bottle shops carry it?
Hops & Pie often has it and shops get it every three weeks. Just note that you'll be passing up a dozen better IPAs at each place when you reach for it.
If you want a sure thing go to Falling Rock. They always have PtE and Blind Pig on tap. Other places in Denver that get Pliny pretty frequently would be Freshcraft, Hops and Pie, Finns Manor and Crafty Fox.
RR STS Pilsner. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/863/130770/ I had one around Christmas time, it was a bit hoppier than I like my Pilsners.
STS isn't necessarily a traditional pils, but I really enjoy it. If you're a fan of FW Pivo it's definitely worth seeking out. We got a big RR drop right around when PtY hit. Hopefully that wasn't a one off. As far as Pliny goes, it's fun to do taste comparisons with beers that were inspired by it. Superpower, Elevated, Mindbender, Duet, etc. Some I enjoy more, some I don't.
We got a big RR drop yesterday, which includes Pliny, Pig, STS, Damnation, and I think Sanctification.
Remember when the black and blue label Belgians, damnation and sanctification iirc, sat around gathering dust?
Pretty sure sanctification is a 100% Brett beer with off white label. Without googling, I think the blue label is perdition, but I could be wrong.
I remember the pitchfork on the one was bent or melted, and the other had a straight pitchfork. They sat on shelves by the case about 8 years ago. Now a person has to Facebook stalk the stores. Oof.
The RR sour situation has definitely changed in the last few years. I think our strong aged sour game in Denver probably contributed to it. Between our local offerings, imported Lambics/Flanders', and stuff from places like Cascade and Beachwood we have a ton of options. Plus I think they were sending TONS of those bottles our way. I think they dialed back shipments and more casual drinkers are starting to get into sours. It doesn't hurt that they know "the Pliny brewery" too. I still have 2-3 bottles of Consecration stashed away. That one has always been my fave.
