How much do you pay for a bottle of Pliny?
The liquor store, Royal Liquor in Leucadia, has had their prices jump from $6.99 a bottle to today $9.99 a bottle! Is this happening everywhere or are they jumping their prices just because of demand? Also, Blind Pig is the same...
What's your location and Pliny prices? I am really sick of this... Especially with the other great choices we have in San Diego! I may be on a Pliny boycott...

I typically find it for around $4.99 at Whole Foods or around $5.60 at a few local stand alone beer shops

I usually buy my Pliny and Pig at Ramirez Liquor in LA. It's either $5 or $5.50, I can't remember exactly.

Edit: This was about 4-6 weeks ago. Hopefully, there isn't a price increase with the next wave of deliveries...

Edit: I may be on a Pliny AM on a Royal Liquor boycott... Their prices always suck, but this is the last straw!

$4.31 at the store I normally buy from in the SF Bay Area. They sometimes run out, though, so finding Pliny is a little uncertain and sometimes they limit bottles to 1 (have never tried to buy more than 2 at a time, but I suspect they'd limit quantity at all times, just sometimes more than others).

It's $5.50. I remember going to a store like Ramirez back in the day and I would be able to pick up 6 bottles of PtE with no problem at almost any given time.

Anything over $4.99 = extra profit for store. They all pay the same.

Pliny did not take a price increase. If a store is retailing it for over a certain price, RRs distributor rep will ask them to lower it. If they don't, they will most likely not get any more Russian River. $9.99 is nuts.

Two years ago Diablo Foods in Lafayette used to sell bottles of Pliny and Blind Pig for 3.79. Eighteen months ago Pliny started to creep up in price. 4.29 - 4-99 - 5.29 - 5.99. Last batch I saw on the shelves was priced at 6.49. I'm not buying it at that price, I still have one source that is priced fairly

I was there a couple of weeks ago and saw it for 6.49. Passed even though it was only a day old.

Okay. This was brought to my attention yesterday by a good beer buddy. He told me that he was in Bensons Liquor yesterday when the RRBC rep was in there talking to the owner or somebody working there at the time. He told me that Bensons usually sells Pliny for 6.99. The RR rep told him that he's going around to all the stores that carry Pliny and other RRBC beers and making sure they sell bottle's of pliny for 4.99. And not price gouging on the pliny and other RR beers. He ended up getting a bottle of pliny for 4.99 at Bensons. If this is true then thats great news for those of us who pay more for pliny than we should. Not that I don't mind paying a buck over the cost for some good beer. But I've seen places where they charge 11-16 bucks for a bottle of pliny that you dont know if its been sitting in the back room for weeks! The owner of Benson was told that if he and other stores continues to charge over 4.99 they wont be getting Pliny in their stores anymore.

One per customer, with new price $ 4.99 + tax + crv . As per the instructions from the brewery . As long as we have it , it will be displayed on the shelve. No more hidings in the back.
And we will enforce these instructions with due respect to Russian River Brewery. Come first , serve first. No phone calls please.

Update: Royal Liquor in Luecadia changed their prices also. And I complained, yesterday before I saw this thread, and they were very apologetic and offered me a free bottle! I told him I was not a freeloader and didn't want one but he insisted and I grabbed a Cascade Apricot Ale. He basically owed me $20 anyhow... good job Russian River! Royal Liquor now sells Pliny at $4.99. I also complained other price gouges with specific examples and he back peddled. So, they are still on notice ;)

Yeah in San Jose, it seems the only place I find it for $4.99 is Whole Foods. Everywhere other private liquor store that I see it at is gouging people at $6.99-$8.99 I would be happy to out the price gougers if it will help to get the prices lowered. Because I refuse to pay more than $4.99 a bottle.

5.50 at Hollingshead in Orange, 7.99 at Bradley's in Tustin (where they hide it, make HUGE Facebook announcements saying that they have it [one per customer] hoard some for next week, say they got more, sell old Pliny, etc.)

Yeah, ever since the Pico location opened up, Boyle Heights has become the redheaded stepchild. Very little special stuff and the Pliny has dried up and when they do have it, they charge way more than they use to. For shame.

It was a good store. I guess we just spread the word too much about it. :/

If it's higher than 5.50, I don't fuck with it. They charge 6.99 for it because they know motherfuckers will buy it.

I'm wondering if these RR reps have gotten to the Bradley's owner yet. I saw he posted today that he has Pliny and am interested in whether he lowered his price or not.

I'm curious as to whether or not RR also requested product be out on display and not be hidden in the back.

It's not worth it to me anymore. I used to be able to get multiples there for about 7 a pop - still bad, but it's not "limit one" $7.99. One time I asked for another Pliny (when the one limit just started) and the minion working replied, "Yeah, if you buy something else." Which I did, then he complained that what I got wasn't expensive enough. I should have stopped going there then.
