Pliny's a great DIPA, BA'ers say so, look at the ratings. I agree.

I start by saying, yes I really do like Pliny the Elder, but the Younger is better. Also, I must say...forgive me for being a contrary but... PtE is not the God's Highest Gift to Beerlovers. Hew, I said it. OK, I'm bracing for the hate.
Wait for it, here it comes...

You are still talking about paise by reviewers and seem to have missed the point that hype = maketing, not praise by consumers.

You recognize that this is just a little film about the release of PtY, right? I actually watched AND listened to the trailer the OP put up and I didn't see it as anything other than "There's this beer that comes out once a year and people sort of go nuts for it and here's a film about that beer and the excitement around it." It sure didn't appear from the trailer that anyone was really "hyping" anything. Telling a story about a beer and it's release, yes. "Hype" (whatever the fuck that means, BTW)...I just didn't see it.

Also, if you think the producers of films don't try to contribute to the positive reviews and "hype" (that fucking word again!) around a particular film, you're delusional or naive or both.

I know exactly what it means. I have also looked it up in the dictionary. And I also know what sloppy usage is made of the word.

And here is a sample of what you could find if you'd take the time to actually look it up yourself.

But you don't really know what the content of the film is, right? I mean, you just watched it and didn't hear any of what was said. Not that a 1 minute trailer can really give you a full idea of what a film is about, but I would think that LISTENING TO THE GOD DAMN THING would give you a better idea than just watching film of people sitting in a pub, standing around outside a pub, pouring beers in a pub, fermentation tanks in a pub.

Seriously, you should probably check out the trailer with sound before saying anything else about this. Just sayin...

    Without sound.

OK, I'm done. I clearly shouldn't be cracking bombers of Imperial Stout after 9pm. This is what happens when you get old...alcohol makes me overly sensitive to harebrained arguments.

It appears to me you're the one pretty worked up over this video. Obviously you have had Younger, I've never had Younger and I love Elder. Which beer would you chose to be the top beer in the world?

The best beer must be made in vermont and produced in small volumes right?

It's the cool thing to do for new BAs to crap on great beer. Once they've tried it (or haven't) they are now experts.

wait a minute, none of that looks like "people saying they like pliny the younger/elder"... why is that?

It's always funny to me that when the haters of this beer (like all haters who hate a beer because of the enigmatic "hype" surrounding it) come out, their arguments all boil down to: no one could ACTUALLY like this beer, let alone think it is one of the best beers in the world (even though it happens to be collectively rated as such on this site that I frequent and therefore presumably trust), it's just the HYPE deceiving their palates. Well then call me a hype drinker, because damn I love Younger, Vanilla DL, Heady Topper, CBS, Chocolate Rain, and at least 100 other beers that have been hated on by you guys. Please avoid these "hyped" beers in the future, DO NOT seek them out, chances are your palates will already be predisposed to hate them anyways.

And BGrider85, don't attribute people's arguing with you for an excessive and unwarranted love of Pliny that only goes to prove your point. Rather, realize that you just sound stupid when you post.
