does anybody know somewhere in the london vecinity or somewhere in england that delivers either pliny the elder or younger beer? i am desperate to try it but cant find it anywhere
Pretty sure your only shot at getting a bottle of Pliny the Elder is if someone brings some back in his/her luggage or makes an undoubtedly expensive-as-hell shipment to you. As for Younger? No, it isn't gonna happen. Ever. Sorry. (Kegs only, released once a year in February, and extremely limited distribution.)
elder is only distributed to CA, OR, WA, CO and Philadelphia. younger comes out once a year, is draft only in the same distribution area, and no one ever sells growlers anymore. your best bet would be to trade with someone - its not hard to find bottles for someone on the west coast.
What they've said. Don't even bother looking locally, because you won't find it. And honestly, seeing as this is your first ever post here, trading for it might be difficult unless you can find someone who's willing to go out on a limb and ship internationally to an unknown trader. Not trying to sound mean, just realistic. (For the record, I don't have access to it, so I'm right off the list.)
This is the only way you would want to try it. International shipping can take ages and with a beer that needs to be consumed as fresh as possible it could hamper the experience. Your best bet for these beers is to take a trip to San Francisco/Santa Rosa in February at the release. It's well worth it and your currency makes the trip relatively cheap, something to look into.
You'd have been better off posting this in the UK forum tbh - local knowledge etc Still the same answer from the Hope brothers mind - Bob and No !!! I was in Denver last week and had 6 and a half pints of PtE in 2 different bars across 3 nights - easy pickings and 6 and a half top notch pints of hoppiness !!! Kicked off with Blind Pig as the warm up act on the first night! I'm planning to head to Portland (OR) later in the year for more of the same Want Pliny ... must fly the pond as gatornation says !
I've actually met a few Brits who made the trek to Santa Rosa in February hanging out at RR. Not a bad excuse to visit. See you there?
You're in luck. I live in London and am actually in San Francisco this week. Pliny the Elder isn't that hard to find here. I can probably fit another bottle in my suitcase for you.
