Lately any bottles I've order through Blackwells and or jugg shop were 14+ days old by time they got here and tasted crappy. Ud be better of trading with somebody who frequents the brewery if u want to get a beer that is drinkable!

Really? Your serious? You can't get fresher Pliny to the east coast much better than 14 days old. If that doesn't work for you skip Pliny, and save your money.

I am hoping this post Is laced with sarcasm.

If not you should thank your lucky stars that you can even get your hands on this awesome beer.

Sarcasm and talk forums are poor partners, better to straight up state you point.

I'm from NY heading to San Fran for a week this Friday. Any guidance for me to find a PtE or possibly PtY? Plan on hitting Mikkeller SF, 21st Amendment, Monks Cafe, and a "few" places the wife wants to see. :-)

PtE is not regularly found around the bay area unless you go direct to the brewery. Some of the local liquor stores in San Jose almost always have it in stock, just need to ask them specifically for it, but expect to pay around $9 bucks + tax for a bottle. I guess that's alright unless you have time to go to the brewery which is a 2.5hr drive from SJ. If anyone wants to do a trade for RR beers let me know.

I've been told this as well coming from a rep who worked for Origlio in Philly who now works for their sister distributor in NJ. Seems the owner of RRB and the owner of Monk's are very good friends and that is the reason some RRB gets sent to Philly. PtE is draft only. From what the rep told me RRB will send around 60 1/6 kegs of 3 different beers a few times/year, about 20 of each. They go to about 6-8 select accounts, one of which is Monk's. Great beer bar, always loads of Belgians on tap and a couple hundred bottles to choose from. There's a 'Beer Bible' on every table that lists all the beers available. Food is very good, too, especially the mussels. However, they don't take reservations and sometimes you will be waiting up to 2 hours to get a table.
You can find RRB bottles of their Wild Ales/Sours in select bottle shops in Philly and the suburbs.

    and

You may also want to try Whole Foods where it can be a little cheaper per bottle than at the brewery. Search for the WF locations in the area you'll be and ask what day(s) of the week they receive their Russian River shipments... arrive accordingly.

I've had a ton of HF and HT the last months, and I'll always have a soft spot for Pliny, a great beer IMO, would love to have it on tap, maybe net time to philly.

100% truth bro. I will be thanking my lucky stars when I find somebody that sends me a Pliny that is fresh and actually tastes good which hasent happened in a long, long time. I've had good Pliny before, the last time I got one That i didn't contemplate spitting from my mouth was actually 3 weeks old and came from Oregon. If this bothers u I'm sorry but that's just how it is. It's not just me ive had confirmation from other people as well.

Laughing at the idea that Pliny goes from such an amazing beer to undrinkable in under a month. I've had fresh and month old Pliny and while there is some detectable difference, it's hardly a crappy beer after a month.

Sometimes, I think the freshness obsession on this site gets a bit out of control. Not all beers degrade at the same rate, and beers that are kept cold will degrade even gentler.

Are you serious??? It takes 5 business days intransit from ca to ct, fed ex delivers on Saturdays, ups delivers on Mondays. If somebody picked it up at the brewery and shipped it that day or even the next it would be less then 10 days old...

If you are going to San Francisco you MUST go to Toronado. Plus that is a place that almost always sells bottles of it to go. I saw it too at City Beer and have heard it is available at Whole Foods a lot of the time.

I've done a few CA trades and everyone has been a 7-8 day ship. UPS ground, Fed EX ground. Just completed a CA trade and it was 8 days for both in and out, could be NC take a a little longer depending on the trucking routes, but this has been consistent with every Ca trade or online buy. Still 14 day old Pliny = 10 day old Pliny, there's no way anyone can tell one bottle is 4 days older than the other.
