So I went to a beer store that sells Russian River Pliny the Elder. I asked a the worker at the store if they had any. And was told that they had already sold the six bottles that they allotted for sale that day. And that I could come back the next morning to buy one. I have never heard of any store that had a certain bottle limit per day. I understand the limit on how many you could buy, but not on the number of bottles a store sells per day. I had the same thing happen with Hommage when I tried to buy it at the same place. I was told that they had it. But weren't going to sell it until later. Has anyone had this happen to them? Is this normal?
Yup. Limit one per person should be enough to sell everything throughout the day anyway. No reason to hold the bottles for days.
Holding the bottles, by even one day, goes against RR's whole "DO NOT AGE, DRINK NOW" slogan. I'm sure they'd be upset about that.
I like this idea, gives people who can't get there on the day the beer arrives a chance at getting the beer.
Where I get mine, they have a two bottle per person purchase limit, but they sell out their entire weekly shipment the same day it comes in.
I've experienced the daily bottle limit at a market in Orange County. Another shop that gets Pliny regularly recently reduced the per person limit to one. Not sure if they received a light shipment or if it's the new standard.
Hey guys, don't want to hijack the thread, but you all likely can answer. I'm traveling to San Diego next week from Chicago and was wondering how easy it is to get Pliny and other RR beers like supplication at stores in the San Diego area? Does distro cover pretty well? Thanks!
It will be hard for you to get Pliny. You'll have to call around and hit a bottle shop right when their shipment gets in. The limit is usually a bottle or 2 per person and the allotment is usually gone in a couple of hours.
Bring 3Floyds/Pipeworks and set up some in person trades. Will be much easier than you trying to chase down a single bottle here and there. Locals know how to get it, and will gladly trade for your shelf beers.
Yeah, and they have Noble tongue Tickles with no bottle limit per person, and no bottle limit per day. I don't think that they really know what they're doing!
