I was recently at the brewer and on the board it said Pliny was held to a 6 bottle limit. Has it always been like this? I thought you were allowed to buy as much of it as you wanted. You can do that with all their other beers to go.

Used to be a case of 24. Not sure why you would want to buy bottles when you can get growlers filled. Pliny brewed at the pub is much better than Pliny brewed at their production facility.

Maybe because you don't want to buy a RR branded growler?

All kidding aside, I agree with you. Tap Pliny > Bottled Pliny

It was as much as you wanted in March last time I was there. Disappointing to hear that there is a limit at the pub now. They have put a tighter restriction on distribution limits. Pliny is relatively easy to get with a drive for me. It's Blind Pig that is next to impossible unless at RR.

Damn, six bottles?!?! Pretty soon they'll be on some Alpine nonsense.

Hate to disagree but the best pliny I have had was out of a bottle. In general tap is better, but some bottle runs can be fantastic

I usually buy bottles, and fill my (one) growler with something else. The growler may last the next couple days, and the bottles a couple weeks to maybe a month. Oh, and yeah, not buying another branded growler.

I only buy 4 PtE bottles when i visit the brewpub, spend way more on sours. The growler fills are awesome to try all the other beers. Love weekends when it's packed and drunk dudes are talked about how amazing Pliny is compared to the rest of the IPA's in the whole world, but my all time favorite is the drunk arguement over elder versus younger.

The problem with 2 cases is a lot of that beer is hanging out past 3-4 months. Back in the day, someone gave me a few plinys that were almost 6 months old cause he had stocked up. Also to deter resale i understand the lower bottle limits.

It seems to vacillate between 6-12.

I can't remember the last time I bought a bottle of Pliny. Not to brag, but The Page and Toronado are both about 2-3 blocks away and it is always on tap there.

I echo the sentiments of some of those above. I save my growler fills for stuff they don't bottle, usually Row 2.

Oh and that's cool that they don't want to expand, but it is starting to get annoying seeing their beers become less and less readily available in shops.

Speaking of Pliny, anyone know of any LA shops that got shipments this week?
