I will be in the Costa Mesa/Anaheim area next week and wondering is what bottle shops would be my best chance of getting some bottles to enjoy and take home?

    Windsor Homebrew Costa Mesa
    Windsor Homebrew Anaheim
    Mr Kegs in HB
    Hi Times in NB
    Total Wine & More

In that order. Some will put Hi Times above Mr Kegs. One of those places should have bottles in. Others will speak here. Don’t skip out on the Pig!

Every time I walk into a Whole Foods in southern CA, there’s a ton of it in the cooler.

Good suggestions above ... it'll be VERY easy to find. Not sure where you are staying in Costa Mesa, but highly recommend a visit to Hi-Time Wine Cellars ... not only an outstanding selection of beer, but also an insane selection wine, hard liquor, cigars and more -> https://www.google.com/maps/place/H...m2!3d33.6329535!4d-117.9178938!16s/g/1w6_p3kn

I've had good luck at TW in Irvine (usually 2/pp), and Whole Foods in HB (6/pp)

Thanks everyone for the info. It seems like it is more readily available then my last trip 8 years ago.

This place is the best... and the worst. Whenever we're in the area my wife gets pissed at me because she knows I'm inevitably going to find a way to stop in there to pick up an order or find things to buy. There selection really is great though, you can get in a lot of trouble there.

the one we hit was right of the 405 - Edinger ave. it didn't seem small to me, but that's an alaskan vision, not an OC one, so perhaps it is the small one.

    Small compared to most WF's.

I don't really like the place, imo its very overpriced for the food you get. Beer prices I don't think are too bad/far above the "norm" these days.

I recommend you go to Green Cheek Costa Mesa and get a smashburger and some tots/fries instead if you're after food and WC IPA's (I'm assuming thats all you're after given you're looking for PtE).

Or alternatively if you're after more styles, go to Anaheim Packing House and snag some food to go, then walk to Monkish Anaheim (can't be more than 200 yards away on the same block).
You'll also be 10-ish minutes from Green Cheek Orange, Bottle Logic, The Bruery, and Radiant if you go that route.

Russian River opened a 2nd location in Windsor about 4-5 years back that really increased their brewing capacity, so you can find it at most places in CA these days.

Thanks for the info everyone, found plenty of Pliny, but no Green Flash when I thought that would be easier to find then Pliny. Loved Green Cheek, Monkish and The Packing House. Apparently The Iron Press gets a drop of Alchemist beer once a year and we hit the lucky day! Went all the way to California for some fresh Focal Banger. Thanks again and Cheers!

Not missing much by not finding Green Flash . . . what were you hoping to find?

Just a six pack of the IPA. When it was available in Maryland it was a friend's favorite beer.
