    Hello all:

This past weekend I had the rare pleasure of finally having some Pliny the Elder on tap in Philadelphia. Does anyone know of anywhere in or around the Philadelphia area that sells bottled Pliny to the public? The only source I could get from the bartender was the distributor listed on the Russian River Brewing website for the East Coast (Origlio Beverage) but they seemed to believe the only distribute kegs of it to businesses. Has anyone had any luck finding it bottled in this region? Thanks! - Anthony

Thanks for the quick reply. With that in mind, is Pliny a pretty reliable find in Philly bars? I know they have a lot of places listed on their website and I was curious how dependent those locations are to having their brews weather it be year-round or seasonally, etc.

I think there is only one bar in Philly that sells it, because the owner is very good friends with the Russian River founder.

It's in numerous bar in the Philly area, not just Monk's. Monk's might be the most likely to have it at any given time though.

Check phillytapfinder it will show what places have Elder but, Monks does have either Elder or Blind Pig on a lot.

Teresa's in Wayne (outside of Philly) has it pretty regularly.

Very True. Unfortunately, just not right at the moment (was there last night and it was not on tap).

I'm assuming things haven't changed a great deal when it comes to the obtainment of RR beer, since I last lived in the Mid Atlantic region (back in 2012, when the OP's question - or one's very similar to it - came up on a pretty regular basis).

My understanding is that Origlio receives a shipment of RR product once a month. Upon receiving their current shipment, they then go about the business of filling order requests, which includes filling orders for PtE. In my experience, for roughly a week after that, one can find PtE in a variety of Philly/SEPA bars and pubs. Unless a pub/bar plans to hold onto a keg for some special event (DIPA/IPA tasting; anniversary party, etc.), most places tap their keg of PtE within a few days of receiving it (as the beer is best when fresh, and so no purpose is served by holding onto it). The rest of the month, it's not all that easy to find PtE in the area. I've heard/read that Monk's gets several kegs of PtE each month, which is why they seem to have it on tap a bit more often than other places in town. I'm not sure about Teresa's Next Door, but have often noticed that they seem to be better supplied with RR beer than most other places in the SEPA area (for instance, while they didn't have any PtE on tap last night, if memory serves, they did have on a keg of redemption and Salvation).

Speak of the devil, per Teresa's Instagram photo, it's back on tap today!

Boy now I got a hankering for a good PtE, thanks a lot.

Honestly, I have not seen it on tap in quite some time. Guess I'm just not visiting the right places.
