I'd like to tell everyone who hasn't had PtY, it's not worth more than 30 minutes in line especially already knowing that you're going to spend at least $1 per ounce. Pretty variable year to year but never good enough to make me stand in line longer than 30 minutes.

Russian River pretty much has a line everyday, but for that two weeks it's insane.
We waited 5 1/2 hours last year and plane on getting there really early in the morning this time.
Bring chairs lol (and some breakfast stouts in starbucks cups ) hahaha

Ah, see, there's the problem. If bars would stop doing that they would still sell just as much PtY by word of mouth, but the releases would become far less of the shit show that they have become.

I agree for the most part. The line never got more than 20 people deep. Maybe because it was on a weekday in the middle of the day. They did tap it a good hour or so before posting.

Actually that sort of thing is pretty much fine by me too. I realize that very few establishments are willing to not post at all about it, so at least they gave the locals a fair shot first.

Relative to all of the things that go on in this crazy fucking world I think that waiting in line for beer is incredibly innocent.

As usual, Los Angeles area bars are selling raffle tickets for a chance to drink a glass of PtY. Seriously. They donate a portion of each ticket to a charity they have chosen and you might win a chance to drink it.

The hype train is so far off the rails that it's not even a train any more.

Need proof? Here's a blog offering a special prize if you tweet pictures with your raffle tickets. Down the rabbit hole so far...

Not worth it, support one of the other 2500+ craft breweries in the US. Done Younger several times, and worked at a place that carries the Younger. The experience is fun, but planning a whole day/weekend around a taste of a beer is nonsense

You can't even get a full pour much less a growler at the brewery.

While so many of you fools are wasting your time on this I'll be drinking other world class IPAs at a bar, brewery, or even my house. I encourage the sensible folks to take pics of the beers you are drinking that week and post them around with the hashtag #betterthanyounger

There's no reason whatsoever to bash people who want to go try this. I've gone to a bar in Philly the last couple years and I enjoy hanging out with my friends and chatting with other beer enthusiasts while in line. The bar we go to also always has several other harder to get selections on along with PtY so we each usually do a couple flights of really good brews along with Younger.

Its funny people feel the need to call others fools for enjoying themselves. Have fun sitting at home drinking. We'll have fun sitting in line with friends.

I agree. I don't see the fun in making fun of people who want to wait. They are not affecting your beer or your enjoyment of it. I wouldn't want to wait for 5 hours, but if I'm around philly and hear about a place that just tapped it I will try to get some. Enjoy the experience if you want to do it!

The most ironic part (in reference to bashing), we are on a website called BeerAdvocate...

That means it will be too old by the time I drink it. :slight_frown:

I was at Russian River a few years ago, and there was maybe a 10 minute wait for my party of 5. I'm pretty mad at myself because I didn't know what PTY was at the time, but drank it and about 20 other beers in the tasters we had.

BTW, Lagunitas is just a few minutes away, and smells of pot.

True.... The most overpriced tulip glass I've ever seen. The worst part is I drink it too fast and then I have an internal battle whether or not to stand back in line and get ripped off again.
