Drats! Well I at least wanted to try and taste it while I still lived in Philly.

 

That's what I'm thinking. And couldn't a person use the airfare money saved to bribe someone in a Philly bar to stash you a growler?

 

No, because the bars that I'm aware of that get it here don't sell growlers.

 

I went to last year's release at the brewery. Got there at 1pm on a Monday. Got in at 7pm. It was an amazing, really fun experience, and I'm really glad I did it... but I'd never do it again now that I've done it once! Ha!

I have to say, it cracks me up that people will comment on a web site devoted to beer enthusiasts that standing in line for one of the best beers is somehow a waste of time. I think metal detecting is a waste of time but you don't see me crashing the local metal detectors club to let them know that.

 

Wow, I agreed with a post calling people crazy for waiting in line for a beer, but also think its a fine idea to wait in line with friends for a beer.

I must be at the nexus of the universe.

 

for a half a grand, some bar back can scrounge up a growler and get it filled I'd bet. Or at least a screw cap 40 oz Schiltz bottle.

And potentially ruin that bars chance to ever get it again if RR gets wind of it. I'm betting that pretty much every bar that gets PtY knows how wanted it is, so they're more likely to do whatever it takes to make sure they continue to receive it every year.

 

I can tell you've never been to one of the bars in Philly that regularly gets PtY when beer goes on tap. :-)

 

Growlers? After a 20 minute car ride, it would be a broken down, graham cracker malt bomb for sure. C'MON PEOPLE!!!

 

They've been doing that festival going on 9-10 years. Everyone knows about it, and the Tri-Tip Sandwiches... ;-P

I'm pretty sure it's easier to get PTY in Philly than it is in Cali. My buddy showed up 5 mins before the King of Prussia tapping, went right in and enjoyed 2 pours.

 

I simply do not understand this mentality and never will. I'm sure it's great. I'm also sure you can find something equally great that you do not have to go to insane measures to get your hands on. Good luck to everyone though.

Crazy that the demand is so high. It's a great brew, but way over hyped. Still I look forward to it hitting Portland because of the amazing other ipas that come out as well.
