I’m planning to make it out to RRBCs new Windsor location next Friday for my first PtY release. I’m a big fan of Vinnie and the brewery and looking forward to seeing the new place. For those with local knowledge, any tips? We’re driving up from SFO on Thursday, so any food/beer recs are appreciated! Thanks.

Eat there the night before! Eat at the OG the night before! :stuck_out_tongue:

In SR, there are a number of solid spots right on 4th street. Belly, Beer Baron... Solid places with good beer taps.

I'm honestly not sure what to expect from crowds this year. Normally if you were in line by ~6am, you were guaranteed to get in on the first wave. But this year, who knows!

Comment about how overrated russian river is and how hazy IPAs are all better by default because they're different and it's so boring to do the same thing well year after year

I'll be checking out the Windsor location as well... lines shouldn't really be long this year with the increased production

This is my hope and thinking as well. Hoping to stop by late afternoon on Friday to try my luck.

Not sure about how things will go this year with the new location up and running, but last year my friends and I were in line by 5:30 based on the excellent recommendations I got on this forum, and we made it in the first wave, though we were close to the cutoff point.

If you're feeling adventurous for more beer around Santa Rosa, check out the other local breweries. Cooperage and HenHouse are among my favorites; Barrel Brothers has a few decent beers as well.

ok i heard a crazy rumor yesterday at moksa, someone there said they will actually bottle PtY this year. at first i laughed and thought it’s ridiculous, but as i thought about it it didn’t seem that crazy to me anymore, with the new brewery and all. also i’ve never actually heard this rumor before which makes me think it’s all the more real

    anyone else hear about this?

Only reason why I don't think it will happen, maybe fills first though, is if it is bottled, everyone is going to be shipping it and holding onto it, well past the intended drink fresh period.

With the new brewery I’d like to see crowler fills to go. But that may take a lot of extra work when they will be so busy with just catering to all the Younger crowds. But you never know.

the first time I had younger they still allowed growler fills of it (4pp). they've done it before, i can see them doing it again.

I was there in line witnessing the very last year for growler fills. Saw some happy hippie load up his van with 12-15 growlers of Younger when it was suppose to be 4 growlers per person. I guess he had a couple of mules with him. We were in line for over 6 hours. Plus another 30 minutes to put my order in and receive it. The next year I flew back for the Younger release on a Monday and we were first 2 in line after getting there 30 minute before they opened. But packed inside an hour later. I may have to fly back to check out their new brewery location in Windsor.

Another reason I don't think it will happen, is that there was no mention of it in the annual pty email rr sent out this year. If younger were bottled, that would be pretty big news, and I'm sure there would be all kinds of info about bottle counts, availability, purchase limits and so on. Also, at least in the past, Vinnie has been adamant that he has no plans to bottle younger, or ever make it part of the core line-up (and so available more often than just two weeks out of the year each February).

When was the last year they allowed growler fills? Last year was my first time having pty and boy was it worth it. Had it at city beer, no line btw but only 1 pp. Always heard about but hadn't caught the craft beer bug till late 2017. Hopefully I can try it more than once this year and make it up to Windsor or Santa Rosa.

I highly doubt they bottle it this year. I do believe they have doubled production, so I suspect bars that get a keg or 2 may get an extra and additional bars may get a keg. I suspect even with the additional production it is not enough for bottling. Maybe growlers, or like "X" amount of growlers per day to increase hype.

I remember reading that a few batches this year will be fermented in open top fermenters. do you guys think they will distinguish between the 2 on tap? maybe it will only available at the windsor location? either way that sounds very intriguing

I've seen folks post about label approvals periodically. If PtY was going to be bottled wouldn't it have to go through the approval process--and if so, I assume someone would have confirmed it by now. Pipe dreams, I suppose.

I work at rr and can tell you that there is no plan to bottle or do growler fills and if so it will be a surprise to employees as well. Also yes the younger brewed at the new Windsor location was half brewed on the open tops and half closed top then blended. We also used hole cone hops at Windsor. The batches brewed at Santa Rosa are done how it’s been done in years past, and we got to taste that yesterday and everyone is in for a treat.
    Cheers!
