Anyone hear if Monks will have Pliny the Younger again this March? I read that Pliny will be in the Philly on or around March 3rd. Waited in line for 3 hrs last year and it was totally worth it.

For those who've had PtY, how does it compare to the new IPAs coming out of places like Tree House, Trillium, Other Half, etc.

I'ts a very good beer. I would have to have all of them side by side to really tell you how it fares against your list.

I am going to attempt to get it this year as well. I just want to try it once!

It's an old school sticky bruiser of an IIPA, so not like those above. Still, I can appreciate it for what it is.

As long as Russian River is still an active brewery and owned by the Cilurzos, Monk's will pour younger every year. Typically it wil be part of a Mad Monday event and/or a fundraiser for Alex's Lemonade Stand.

I agree it's fantastic. Monks tapped quite a few good beers last year. Did a raffle and gave away rare beers. Hope it's like that this year

There's no arguing it's a great beer. The real question is, Is it worth the trouble you have to go through to try it?

Last year I went with a couple friends. We got there early. Maybe 20 people ahead of us so we knew we'd get a seat. Besides PTY they had other great beers. Awesome food. Only thing I would do differently is dress warmer and bring beer for the wait

Simple answer is no, it's not worth the trouble

Monks has it every year. Tom is friends with Vinny. It's a great beer but I would not wait in line more than 10 minutes. I'm not patient and there is other great beer just around the corner at another bar. It's been $15 4-5 oz pours that 100% go to charity and it's cash only bar.

    Enjoy

If you've never had it, yes, it's worth the trouble to try it for the first time.

    Sorry, my question was rhetorical.
I've had it several times which is why I said there's no arguing it's a great beer. Personally, I would pass if it involved waiting on long lines in the cold or just getting a 4 oz. pour, but I will continue to go out of my way at a ticketed event where I can get a glass or 2 of it.

It's a great event, more importantly there will more than likely be other great beers there along with it, don't just go for one brew!

Ethan, that was an excellent video. Thanks for posting it!!

I actually salivated while I watched you eat your hoagie. I will have to check out Chickie's Deli next time I am in the city.

    Cheers!
