The hype awakens... Looks likes CO is on the list of taps once again.

Pliny the Younger will make his 12th Annual return to Russian River Brewing Company February 5th through February18th, 2016! It will be available on draft each day at our brewpub until we run out of that day’s allocation, which rarely happens. Younger is neither bottled nor available in growlers so more people will have the opportunity to enjoy it right from the source, or at a handful of select draft accounts. Following is some helpful information to make this year’s Younger Release fun and safe for everyone!

    The Beer:
Pliny the Younger is considered a “triple” IPA, simply meaning that it is higher in alcohol and has tons of hops. The alcohol should finish at about 10.25%, although it is remarkably dry for the amount of malt used in the recipe. It is loaded with hop flavors, bitterness, and aromatics. The hops used in this year’s recipe are of excellent quality: Simcoe, Warrior, Chinook, Centennial, Amarillo, and Tomahawk. We brewed Younger for the first time 12 years ago as a winter seasonal, building upon the Pliny the Elder recipe while pushing the envelope with malt, hops, and alcohol just to see how far we could go! It is always brewed only once a year and released the first Friday in February, rain or shine.

    Distribution:
We will begin distributing Pliny the Younger on draft the week of February 8th in and around Sonoma County and the Bay Area. Stone will likely pick up their shipment for Southern California that week or the following week. We will ship kegs to our distributors in San Jose, Sacramento, Oregon, Colorado, and Philadelphia sometime in February, ship dates TBD. At this time, we do not know what accounts will receive kegs of Younger, but it will likely be available at many of the same accounts who received it last year since the production numbers should be very similar. It is our recommendation that our accounts tap it as soon as possible after receiving their delivery to preserve the freshness and integrity of the beer. This beer is not meant to age AT ALL! Pliny the Younger is very much like the fresh catch of the day and best enjoyed right away! If you are served old Pliny the Younger from one of our distributed accounts, please notify us so that we can educate them, too!

Yay. Even if it isn't even one of my favorite beers anymore, this has been a yearly tradition for me.
The FRTH has this event down to a science now.

Any chances that one of the bars in Telluride or nearby Telluride will get it? I'm probably being naive but fingers crossed

Hmm, maybe Brewer's Republic will get it this year?

I think PtY usually only hits the front range of CO (Denver, Boulder, Fart Collins, etc.) due to it being so limited. It would be naive of me to say it wouldn't though because I'm not sure.

I'm pretty sure it will show up at falling rock, but I don't think they've given the date yet.

Cheeky Monk and Hops & Pie always have it as well, but timing is usually slightly different.

Looks like the furthest south it got last year was World of Beer in Glendale, but priority goes to their loyalty members. (which I guess is free to join, so maybe I should do that)
And they way most of them run it, I would have to take most of a day off of work to get a ticket to taste it.

I have thought WOB's was painless, am wondering as they get more and more loyalty club members if it will stay that way. I got 3 pours last time over about a 45 minute period by simply getting back in line after each pour, and drinking in line with friends. I think I probably could have had another, even, had I wanted.

That WOB hasn't seemed to have turned into a real beer geek hangout for some reason--more neighborhood folks who like, but aren't nuts about like us, craft beer, and transient population from the two hotels in the center.

    (probably shouldn't have said anything...)

FR on Sunday is the deal. Not even for just the Pliny, but all the other stuff that gets tapped. Good event.

Eh, ticked it. It was pretty good. It's a well run event but I thought Hops Chops was better. Would rather go to Comrade which I rarely get to do.
