I just want to say (besides welcome back BA), screw all of you jobless people in SD that have been enjoying all the Younger in San Diego the last two weeks! oh look, emoticons now:
I'm slightly surprised at how long it's hung around down here. I feel like last year it wasn't here for too long. Not complaining at all though. Had it at Toronado, and it's such a drinkable beer.
They made 30% more this year and some surprising spots got kegs and the usual spots seemed to get more kegs.
I'm heading to O'Brien's on Friday after work, but since the keg taps at 11 the aforementioned jobless will likely have killed the keg by then. Exponential would be a nice consolation prize, if it lasts that until then...
i have been surprised at how many more bars got kegs that i wouldnt have expected (like the tap room). bars have been holding on to them though which isn't my favorite idea in the world. i was looking at the events and saw a bar somewhere tapping theirs at the end of march... fresher the better with this one come on!
The Tap Room has gotten kegs of Younger for at least the last four years. They also have Elder on pretty much all the time, even when it's not listed on the board.
Yes the 10 and 11am tappings M-F leave much to be desired from bar owners. Students, riff-raff and the unemployed have made out. That being said, I had 2 tickets and gave one of my pours away. It's a technically great beer, but I still don't understand the frothing hype it's generating.
Don't forget the self-employed or the ones wise enough to see the day coming a year in advance. We've had a merry ol' time drinking pitchers of the one called Younger for weeks now.
I have a job...have also had Younger a few times now around SD. Plan on having it a few more times as well.
Churchill's is tapping Younger for their Renaissance Fest on Saturday March 3rd at 11am when they open. Expect a big line so the earlier you get there the better chance you have to get a couple glasses. They will also have 50 other insane beers on tap that day including Churchill's Finest Hour '11 & '12 on tap and releasing bottles for purchase to take home! There is a line-up list posted on the BA Event Calendar, seriously ridiculous list.-so glad we can now share our Emo's with each other
ENCINITAS ALE HOUSE "Here's the deal, we will be letting ONLY our "80 Beers in 80 Days" members in (that are wearing their member sweatshirts) an hour before we normally open on Monday, February the 27th @ 3pm for the opportunity to purchase ONE Younger and @ 4pm we will be open for business as usual, Pliny the Younger Included!!"
Wise? It's released every year at roughly the same time. It's good, but not worth the total hysteria. I had my annual tulip's worth. Done & Done.
