Their facebook page has a Pliny logo with the words "watch for upcoming events".

Pliny The Younger Day Fundraiser Monday, March 07, 2016 Noon CASH BAR
Russian River Brewing Company of Santa Rosa, California, loaded Pliny the Younger on a truck headed to Philly. It is expected to arrive on February 22nd at Origlio Beverage. We should have the beer at Monk's by Wednesday or Thursday (maybe sooner). The beer will need to settle for a few days.

We will be holding our Annual Fundraiser on March 7th @ Noon. We will have quite the lineup of beer this year, I'll post that list once we have Younger in the building. We raised $20,000 for Alex's Lemonade Stand last year. That is a local cildren's cancer charity which funds research and assist families whose child is undergoing cancer treatment.

We plan on offering a raffle of super rare beersto raise additional funds. I will also sell a few bottles of beers I helped to brew for too much money. Remember that 100% of all those beer sales and raffle tickets go directly to the charity. This is not one of those "a portion of the proceeds" bullshit events. Every cent goes to the charity.

The prices are high, but you get to feel good about yourself because 100% of your money goes to charity.

Details will be posted very soon.

Attempted to go last year. Was very much the opposite of low key. Bitterly cold day, arrived 45 mins early and was among the first 5-10 who were shut out.

I went in 2014. I think they opened the doors at 11am. Got there at 9 and had no issues. I'm likely going again.

I need to amend my prior statement... I think beer has killed some of my brain cells... I went back through my notes and it was actually iron abbey where i got shut out last year.

The Blue Dog event was held on a bitterly cold day, but i got my glass of PtY w/ no issues. And they also had a pretty epic taplist beyond just elder and younger.

There is no such thing as a "low key" PtY event anymore in the philly area, and you need to get to blue dog at least an hour and 15 mins early if you want a table or a seat at the bar, but if you don't mind crowds and standing, I think it's well worth it.

For my money, blue dog has the most well-run beer events in the philly area.

Anyone have info on pour sizes, pricing, and necessary arrival time from prior years' UCity tapping? I'll be around Philly that weekend and I might have to swing by if it's a reasonable pour size and I don't have to get there 3 hours before open.

My bad. PtY clouded my geographical abilities.

It apparently came and went at TJ's in Paoli, PA today. They posted "The Eagle has landed" around 2:40 PM ET and it was kicked after about 2 hours, around 4:30 PM ET. I can't tell the exact timing from the Facebook messages but this is pretty close. I didn't have a chance of making it since I had to work and live 90 minutes away. They said the short notice during work hours is the only way they can handle the crowd, which I can appreciate.

Of interest regarding my profile picture; the glass on the left is Pliny the Younger and the one on the right is Pliny the Elder. It was nice being able to taste them side-by-side a few years ago here in Pennsylvania.

Never heard the story on why it's available only in Philly outside California. Can anyone enlighten?

Monk's owner Tom Peters and Vinny Cilurzo of Russian River are long time friends so not only is PTY made available in Philly but RR sees distribution in PA also because of that.
