Pliny the Younger - Save the Date?

What part of California are you in? HopSlam is the beer that made me a hop head back when I had it the first time in '07. I've had "better" DIPAs, but it still has a place in my heart.

Any updates from Hollingshead?

 

Can someone please provide some updates on wait times?

 

Feb. 17. If you go, prepare for a crazy long wait. I would say 4-6 hrs unless you camped out and are the first group in. I like the Hollingshead family and buy beer from them regularly since I work across the street, but no beer is worth that kinda wait.

 

Its a free for all at the bar man. I must have had five or six half pints on Friday. How could they possibly regulate it with that many people there? And I wasnt being sneaky either. No one cared.

 

How are the lines up there during the week? Im gunna be there on the last day and just want to know what kind of craziness is going to ensue

 

I've hit RR a few times for Younger, and swore I wouldn't try to get any last year, but low and behold my wife and I cruised by Hollingshead around 4:30 and waited about 5 minutes for a glass. Not sure I'll try my luck again, but who knows.

 

Their FB says 4 to 12 hours, lol.

Edit: it also says that it's been on up to 7:30pm each night, so you'll want to get there between 7:30am and 3:30pm

 

Sweet thanks. Ill be there by 9am so should be plenty of time. Just want to get it straight from the brewery once in my life. Plus i can have a full pint right? and have a couple or is it usually one per?

 

Pretty sure it's a three 10oz pour limit per person.

 

People were saying it's not very strictly enforced though. But I mean, there's Beat and Consecration on tap I wish I could be there. Have fun

 

Is there a list of release dates around socal? Full pint had a nice one last year. Search function yielded nothing

Yeah with all the other beers on tap ill prob end up just havin my 3 and then gettin the crazy big sampler platter they have

 

Good luck with that. Was there on a random Monday around 2 in late December and my friend couldn't get a sampler because they said all the boards were in use. Supposedly they only have like 10 of them.

 

Oh man, I remember walking into a nearly empty Hollingshead for Pliny in 2008 and my buddy and I getting mugs of it. I then remember having to walk all the way to Main Place to do something while sobering up.

 

see? that's a good thing if there wouldn't be so much hype about it these days you probably wouldn't even remember that

 

Yeah in 2008 i got a whole pitcher of it at Pizza Port San Clemente. And a pitcher of another beer. Had to walk to the beach to sober up so i could drive home. Me and my buddy were pretty trashed

 

Skip Pliny day at head on over to El Segundo Brewing Co for some Power Plant. You won't regret it.
