That's pretty funny and awesome. I used to buy booze for Trader Joe's and I would take my empty old 6 and 4 pack holders from the .rar beer I had at home and put them up in the singles section.

Heard from a guy who got in line at 10 today and got into the pub at 3:30. Weekday line after first seating has been at the Supercuts on 4th. It's been tapped on all sides of the Bay now. No reason to go the pub if you can make it there 50 weeks of the year.

That doesn't sound promising. Some friends and I are making the trip up from SoCal for the weekend, but if the wait is several hours long, I'd rather do other things. I checked the SFBW app for things to do but any insider info would be appreciated, especially if you know of some spots that are tapping Younger that won't have the insanity at RRBC.

It's a complete gong show this year. Last year at this time you would wait 45-60 minutes to get in. Since you are traveling from down south, get in line by 6 AM with your buddies, pick up some Jameson's, get coffee and scones from Flying Goat, and Irish up until they let you in at 10:30. Get your RR fix. Then go to the Bear for fresh Cafe Racer 15 and Lagunitas for SF Fusion.

Yeah man. It's insane now. I'm most surprised by the weekday lines. I've been up there twice for Younger already--once on opening day and another on a Tuesday or something. I was able to walk right in at opening and enjoy some pours without any hassle. I knew the lines would be long this year but not as long as people are reporting them to be.

We got there at 8:50 yesterday and were the last group in the first wave to get a table (sat down at about 11:25). When we left at ~1:00pm, the line was down to the light at D St. but didn't wrap around.

Yup. That's what we used to do, too. Last year I went on a weekday, got there at 10:45, was in the pub having a Younger by 11:15. It's pretty discouraging to hear that now, even on a weekday, you need to get there a 6am to avoid waiting for hours. Which is another way of saying I'm done with the Younger madness. You have to wonder how long this can go on. At some point, people are going to realize it ain't worth it. And I say this as a huge fan of all things RR.

And as long as I've got my cranky pants on: Lagunitas has gotten out of control, too. Just a couple years ago, you could walk in there any given day, get a seat at the bar and get served immediately. The last three times I've been there (admittedly all weekends) you couldn't park in their parking lot, there wasn't a seat to be had anywhere, and there was a line of at least 25 people waiting to be served at the bar. All of that changes the vibe: it used to be like a very relaxed bbq in a friend's backyard, now it's more like a frat party. I hope I've just been unlucky my last couple visits, cause that 'beer sanctuary' was the best before it got overcrowded.

I remember younger days 2004-2007. What line, what crowd? Growlers, yes please. I haven't sat at RR to have a beer in about 3 years. If I find some Pliny in bottles I'll buy it. Other than that RR is great, but I'm over it all.

The talk about the weekday lines is quite discouraging. I was thinking about trying this Monday morning and getting there around 10:30, but now I think that might be a bad idea. I also remembered Monday is a holiday, so I'm definitely not going now. Ah well.

What are the chances of hitting O'Briens when they open the day they tap that Younger keg? I and my friends just want some food and good drafts, we're not interested in the Younger. But I'm suspecting it'll be swamped no matter what that day? It's the day we land in San Diego, but are considering going another day, just a ritual to have that first pint at O'Briens.

I'm sure it will get crowded at O'Brien's 3-4 hours before they tap it. I don't know if there will be a line that early, but I guarantee you it will be packed in terms of people grabbing tables and sticking there waiting for it to be tapped. I personally experienced this about 5 years ago when there wasn't as much hoopla. However, keg(s) still kicked in like 30 min. I would say if you can't be there AT LEAST a few hours before, or a few hours post-tapping, then don't bother.

I went to Hollingshead in Orange, CA today. Was there at 6:40am, waited 7h to get it. Got my 12oz, glass and a pour of Temptation and went home. Worth the hype and everything, but I won't do it again for sure
