I hope that's not the case. That's probably funny for the bar staff to see people suffer, but still a super dick move.

It's true. I was there when they opened at 11:30 and it was on then and by noon it was taken off. Jesse the owner is such a dick. The beer isn't that great to begin with.

We're all going to miss them when they get kicked out sadly.

[unless their lease situation has changed]

If he's that much of a dick to you, why do you drink there?

If the beer isn't that great to begin with, why chase after it? Especially when you go out of your way to drink it someplace where the owner is a dick?

I had never had Younger before so was hoping to find it somewhere. But to put a beer on and wait for the word to go out that it's on and then take it back off shortly after that and do the same thing over again later in the evening is a total dick move.

I hope I'm wrong about this, but I thought I heard that they got the situation resolved.

I don't know what you guys are talking about though... I always get great customer service at Apex, their prices are the best in town, I always get free samples there and Jesse treats me like royalty (trying to work on my sarcasm skills, which I've only recently learned are seriously lacking).

Tickets are still available for the 1st session of the upper lip's triple IPA blind tasting. They've mentioned that 5 of the IIIPAs are from OR and 1 is from CA so I'm relatively certain the younger will be involved!

I can't recall ever having bad customer service at Apex, but thank God Jesse never works the bar. :grinning:

I liked Apex, but i wished they took cards there. We didn't know our first time. They were nice when we asked about When they asked PTY. Can't be made at them, still had melvin clinic isa on tap:sunglasses:

Really like this idea. Cheers to Bailey's/Upper Lip for coming up with it. Hope some attendees check in here and report back about how this went.

My favorite secret great beer spot Side Street put it on at 6pm tonight. Lasted about half an hour. I was really hoping to rag on it for being over-rated, but it was still a damn fine Triple IPA, and certainly different from the Oregon ones I had. The Bailey's thing sounded great, but that would have involved going downtown at rush hour and also getting your tastebuds beaten down.

I think I'm happy to simply say it was a very good beer and I'm happy I got to try it.

I went yesterday with a co-worker and really liked the format. Since it was truly blind, outside of strongly suspecting the CA TIPA was PtY, it made the ranking process much more subjective. And then went back with a couple more co-workers today and had a glass at four. At one point, there was only two other people at the Upper Lip besides us. Totally chill and PtY was still pouring at 5:00 when we left. Great job to Baileys, once again.

Awaiting the results. But if the bartender is correct, I ranked PtY #5 of 6.

Here are the results. I ended up picking PtY 5th. I picked Notorious first and that's the only beer I guessed right. It was a fun event.

Well to continue to the trend, I as well ranked PtY #5 at Upper Lip. Way to go Breakside for brewing my favorite beer of the lineup.

Ive had the pFriem Triple IPA a few times in the past month. I think it is really fantastic. Glad to see others do too!

Ill have to re-visit Notorious. Its been a little "too much" the past few times I have had it. Ive always like Hop Venom much more.

My wife and I attended the Upper Lip event and had a blast. I'm a huge fan of blind tastings and side-by-sides, so I was excited to run PtY through that kind of format.

Went in thinking it'd be easy -- especially because I'd had most of them that week -- but walked out with only two correct: Pliny and Hypernova. I assumed Notorious would come out on top, but pFriem wound up being my favorite. Pliny tasted like blue cheese and actually grew progressively more offensive as I drank it. Had a glass of it at Hop & Vine earlier that week and didn't pick up any those characteristics, but I'm sure context was a factor.

Anyway, the Bailey's crew killed it. Awesome event.

What did you guys think of Hypernova? No surprise it was last. Wow, that was not good at all. It was actually tough to finish.
