Pliny vs Lunch

    So I just FINALLY got my hands on my first Maine Beer Co. Lunch....a brew I have heard great things about, and one that I have been trying to get my grubby mitts on for a while now.

    Being from cali, I have been blessed to have easy access to pliny, and it is one of my all-time favorites. Before I open my first bottle of lunch, I am curious to hear how y'all think the two beers compare. From what I have heard, they are very similar (both balanced yet immensely complex IPAs not intended for the sole purpose of unleashing alpha acid warfare on your palate), and so to those BAs who have had them both......how do you compare the two?

    *****note: I am genuinely curious as to a comparison between the two, before I try it. Just giving a disclaimer because I don't wanna sound like a douche pitting iconic brews from opposite sides of the country against each other (in light of recent trending threads........lol)

    Lunch on tap is absolutely amazing. I've had mixed experiences with bottles, hopefully you have a good one because I definitely think it can hold its own against Pliny!

    Just popped my first lunch, fantastic stuff. Havent had pliny in a while, but this is right up there with heady. Maybe even more enjoyable if you arent in the mood to have your palate wrecked.

    Enjoy Pliny very much myself but if we can completely leave the I hate MBC because they charge to much out of the equation I prefer Lunch any day of the week.

    Pliny vs Lunch is not as often pitted against as one would think on this site. For me, Pliny in a bottle versus Lunch on draft at Meade Hall in Cambridge... I don't know. Both just amazing. Now if you brought double galaxy, Abner, S&S5, Ephraim, and HT into this fire fight of IPA's and DIPA's, there would be even more debates. So many great IPA's and DIPA's out east now (IMO).

    Lunch can stand up to the best of them.
    I've had Pliny before, a long time ago but I got to say that lunch as well as the whole line up at Maine Brewing is fantastic.

    Those shelf turds don't stand a chance against this little brewery that makes the most amazing IIPA EVER!! They water their hops with the tears of unicorns. You've probably never heard of it.....

    Neither is near my top IPAs/DIPAs. I'd take blind pig over them both and Heady and HF by a mile.

    I can't give feedback on this because I've never had Pliny. But you sir are 100% correct about the pricing. Lunch is amazing, as just about the entire Maine line-up is top notch, but I don't get the pricing. Just purchased 3 bottles dated 5/21, two are traders but I can't wait to indulge. Still need to have on tap.

    Lunch is amazing. I think it holds its own against Pliny.

    Now that we built it up, tell us how disappointed you are.
