I just brewed this same recipe for the 2nd time now, w/ the Amarillo hops except this time I used 10ml of hop shots from NB. Got it into the fermentor this past Sunday so it'll be a little while, interested to see what the hop shots do/don't for it. Never used the hop shots before, strange stuff.....kind of had an oil slick sheen on to of the boiling wort, then afterwards I was clean the kettle and noticed dark brown specks around the top of the kettle

 

I find that if I remove the grommet, a 1/2 inch OD tube fits snuggly into the hole to make a good blow off. I usually don't need it and put an airlock on, but if I start to see beer coming into the airlock, I switch to a blow off.

 

how long does the hop shots last in storage?
