Considering trying to brew at home this winter. I'm sure there are hundreds of posts like this on here. I'm basically looking for the simplest, budget friendly beginner set up to brew a pale ale. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    You mean equipment or recipe?

Both. I guess I should start with equipment.

The following list is just to get you started. If you decide to get serious, you'll need to upgrade a few things.

    1) A stainless steel pot from Walmart. 17 bucks last time I checked
    2) A couple of empty 1 gallon wine bottles… You know, the cheap stuff. Make it a project in itself. Call it "quality time" with your wife
    3) A few empty plastic 20 oz coke bottles
    4) Some plastic tubing for racking. 5 feet should do it
    5) A little bit of math, to convert 5 gallon recipes to 1 gallon

The purists will find all sorts of things wrong with this list, but if you are looking for a cheap way to get into the game, then welcome to the club!

Thanks, I think that was what I was looking for. I'm not trying to cut corners but try brewing with the absolute bare essentials. I don't want to spend a lot of money on something that I would have to upgrade should I want to continue, nor collect dust in the basement if it doesn't work out.
