Are IPA's Ales or Lagers? Whichever one is the one I like most. :grinning:

I'm curious, what is the true intent of this poll? Is there some higher purpose? Are you asking a different question than what we're hearing?

Would a bottle conditioned IPA (using top fermenting yeast in the primary, and bottom fermenting yeast in the secondary) kept in the fridge be considered a "lager"?

To get y'all to take a hard line. Ales or lagers. Ya wussed out when ya went with "both" :stuck_out_tongue:

    I say yes.

If you were to taste it, the flavor might not change significantly, so it would still be marketable as an "india pale ALE", but the process of cold storage (and using bottom fermenting yeast by default) makes it, by definition, a lager, or "lager(ed) beer", which I prefer.

But the way I look at beer and how the styles are divided contraindicate "ale vs lagers".

The true question is "ale vs beer".

I'm guessing the threadstarter is either drunk, or has insidious intentions. Either way, I kinda want some popcorn.
