Makes me sad thinking about it, but can’t remember the last time I had a beer at a brewery. According to Untappd, I went to one brewery in 2023.

Since most of my beer purchases are from my place of part time employment, I'm either drinking there 10% of the time or at home/friends/family the remaining 90%. I don't remember drinking at a single brewery last year.

It varies quite a bit for us, but orobably around 10%. We love visiting breweries whenever we can, but not as often as we'd like. It's also more frequent during the summer months and we'll see what happens this year when the missus retires.

Now I think we actually drink more in terms of ounces when we visit breweries because we try lots of different brews especially where they do half pours and flights. At hone we usually each have two beers on the weekends and once in a while have one or two during the week.

Turning 72, having a brand new titanium knee, and being diagnosed with a rare eye condition have gathered to slow down our/my brewery visits. And I miss the hubbub and humanity of the varied bar experiences of not so long ago. I'll never see like I once did but I walk almost as good as ever. I am now inspired to go to Little Brother Brewing downtown. It's a cool old time place. Cheers all!!

90% of my drinking is at home at my basement bar. Fear of DWI and not liking to drive at night in my old age limit my drinking at breweries. My outside of the house drinking is weekday afternoons at a local tavern. Breweries don't really open much on weekday afternoons.

With young children, I'm very rarely at breweries these days.

My beer consumption at an actual brewery/taproom is definitely 5-10% range. I probably go out to a brewery only once every 3-4 weeks at best and then it’s probably 16oz. of beer on average. Cost, finding time to go, all breweries at least 15+ drive min from my house and my general low tolerance all contribute to why I don’t consume more at breweries. Combined with waining interest in over the years. I do enjoy visiting great breweries on travel for the new experience. Additionally I telework so I enjoy trying to find a meeting-free afternoon when I could pack up my laptop and go to a brewery locally that is open and finish out my work day while talking to the barkeep or a few patrons while things are very slow. I enjoy this more vs very busy visits.

One vote (so far) for 91-100%. Do you live in a brewery?

If it’s consuming combined with buying I’m around 75% with the leftover being a combination of boxes from friends, bottle shares and beer bars. I almost never buy beer from a beer store or retail anymore because I don’t really have a need to. There are a dozen or so breweries I can get to within walking distance, bike ride or via the subway.

This poll is still relatively 'young' but I am quite surprised by the results so far: the vast majority of BAs consume their beers not at the "source". It would seem that for those folks they consume most of their beers at home.

Maybe this is a BA/demographic thing? I am pretty sure that most small, local craft breweries would prefer that folks come to their taprooms to drink their beers.

The local (to me) craft brewery that I likely visited the most in 2023 is Von C Brewing (Norristown, PA). I can purchase their canned beers at my local Retail Beer Distributor (less than a mile from my house) but I have yet to purchase their canned beers. But for completeness it is not like I frequently go to the brewery/taproom either, my guesstimate is I went there about 10 times last year.

    Cheers!

I was thinking the same (BA demographics for this poll probably are not representing real world). If hardly any beer was consumed at breweries, small breweries would not focus on their taproom as their primary income/business model like most have in this country but would be more like old-school distribution model focused breweries.

Could be that someone only drinks a small amount and when they do, they go to a brewery.

I voted 61-70% and I’m the only one in that range. It was a complete guess though.
Last weekend I visited three different breweries on three different days, so it’s probably about right.

I voted 0-10%, pretty much all my drinking is done at home now. Before one of my friends ran into some unfortunate health issues (who had no problem being my DD and just liked going around to different places) I would have said around 50% of my consumption was done at a brewery/taproom.
