Actually yes. Coke and other soft drinks seem to taste better when in plastic bottles. They also obviously taste better when dispensed from a fountain at a restaurant. Maybe I am just crazy or prejudice against cans but they seem to alter the taste of the beverages stored in them.

Whatever format the beer I buy comes in is fine with me. If I have a choice, bottles. But some beers I like only come canned, so that's why I'm fine either way. Cheers!

It's worth remembering that that account primarily produces punny one liners. I wouldn't worry about the reality or accuracy of their commentary

How many crushed cans can you fit in a 6 pack?

So your point is that crushed cans equals more cans per truckload going to the melting pot, thus less fuel is used?

I can buy into that if that's your point, but it's taken two unclear comments to make your point if my guess is correct. If it's not correct, you need to be a bit more clear because I'm done guessing.

Yes. That may be because it has actual sugar in it instead of the usual HFCS, and its mono profile. It may also be, because simply. It's carbonated in real time as its served. Don't know. Don't care. Soda is very much a completely separate topic, and has less than zilch to do with this one.

Why would fountain soda pop syrup have a formulation different from that use for bottled/canned products? I'd guess it's all HFCS. There definitely can be differences in carbonation, amount of syrup metered in, ice addition or serving temperature that can have a real effect on the taste experience.

Perhaps ask McDonalds, and the answer is yes. And that's because they treat the product like how any reasonable person on this site: whether consumer who complains about freshness, or a brewery employee, or bartender that insists upon for storage would completely understand. It's the same product. But, bags of syrup are also volatile little things prone to temperature fluctuation. When they get mixed into solution. If that isn't a consistent temperature, or the run it has from wherever in BOH that isn't IN a cooler and is forced to serving temperature is just going to be different. Like serving warm keg beer from a jockey box different. McDonalds doesn't use bags. They use stainless, and its temperature remains stable at serving temp.

But they burned down, in sure that’s part of the taste issues. I heard the recipes went up in flame and they have been trying to re create them.

    Enjoy

Any thought as to how the shape of the vessel can work with carbonation and seem to change flavor?

    Enjoy

Interesting. Perhaps since bottles are usually taller it creates a perceived change in carbonation.

The differences in the shape of the opening supposedly impacts the carbonation when poured (the ridge of the can causes more agitation to the liquid). This is a separate issue from heavy bottles supposedly being able to hold higher carbonated liquids than cans. In my own comparisons, I’ve found it common for canned beer (in the cellar to room temp range) to create a worse head than bottled. A colder temp mitigates the difference - I would think due to more carb staying in suspension at that temp. Someone else might have very different results.

My 1st preference is bottle with pop top then can. Probably more mental, but seems bottled beer tastes better.

Glass bottles are better IMO easier to drink straight out of in my opinion. Cans I prefer to pour in a glass more often than not

Glass bottle with the pop off cap produces the best beer for me. I have done side by sides with the same beer and close to the same date and the bottle wins and the pour is better and the beer tastes a little "fuller", the can "flatter". I have also noticed that some cans are starting to look and feel cheaper and the beer is being impacted by this. Cans certainly do have some advantages, though.

I hate those things. Sly Fox had their Helles in one but NJ banned them because the tops would be dangerous if left on the beach; they have since switched back to a regular can. The pour from the can was awful and always left a bit of beer under the lip that I couldn't get out.

If you are home while drinking put the open can in the fridge until you are ready for the rest of it, it helps a lot with this.

The beer is not going to be impacted by can thickness. Sorry. Nope. That's not how it's happening. It might impact the capability of the seamer if that subtle difference in can thickness is not factored in. But, it won't mean diddly to the beer itself.
I found them to be on par with pouring from a glass, it was that easy. I can see how a can would increase the amount of carbonation coming out of solution. But, that's also kind of the point of a vigorous pour. Because it releases more aromatics. Carbonation likes to hide a lot of secrets that way.
It's amusing that you are worried about the dregs in a can when you pour it. Hazy beers have taught me to worry in the exact opposite direction.

I avoid aluminum and plastic in everything, if at all possible. Bauxite is a toxic substance to mine and aluminum is a toxic substance to produce. Easy to do with beer since I like the taste of beer in bottles better than beer in cans, especially beers with any sediment of any kind that bottle design discourages from entering the pour.
