I wish you had left out the word some in the second choice. I said I love sours but really I like them. I am not head over heels like I have to have more and more. The ones I had that were really memorable were all so different. One of my great misses as a beer geek because I did not start drinking beer until they stopped making it, was le bleu which I did get a sip of once. =) The ones I have liked the best have all been american sours except for the fou founne of which I also only had a taste.

I think the question needs to be quantified and most people that don't like sours probably won't even pay attention to the thread. Otherwise I love sours. I have a Pear Bear from FFF that I'm really looking forward to having, just waiting for a good reason. The weekend might be a good enough reason.

I'm on real shaky ground with Sour's. Most go down like Soda for me. Love them, but can find myself lying on the floor drooling real fast.

Big fan of rich blue cheese, and love Troyers trail bologna and many of the polish cured meats at Jungle Jim's (look it up, you would love it). That said I do not seek out delicious vinegar to drink with my food. Some sours are decent, Rodenbach Grand Cru, Reinaert Red, Petrus Oud Bruin and red is pretty nice (I will review the later 2 in the next few days or week by the way which I have had before), and a few other saisons are decent....then you have brews like Cantillon Vigneronne ale and Saison Man which will make your teeth chatter and scrape like you had a stiff pull from and apple cider vinegar bottle. Point being, the effect can be over accentuated and rather overbearing making for an impact that is less than the sum of it's parts....I also guess you missed the end of the statement that I would try them again to see if my tastes have changed....but somehow doubt it....and like you, again, IMHO...IN MY HUMBLE OPINION.

    Cheers

My tolerance for sour is pretty high but there's been a few that pushed it right up to the max of what I could handle.

The one on the left was something from Hanssen's and it was the most sour beer I've ever had in my whole life. It was pretty brutal, to be honest. For the record, the one on the right is Tilquin and it pretty much rules.

Fair enough. I understand everyone's taste buds are different. Though it's interesting you notes a bunch of Flanders Reds and Oud Bruins, as those are all known for a high acetic acid (vinegar) content. It sounds like you are more averse to the high tartness produced by lactic acid.

Your taste buds may have changed by the time you re-review some sour beers, but if you are lucky, they won't. Sour beers are a pricey preference to have! Either way, cheers to enjoying beer, whatever kind it may be!

There really should be another box with an option like "I like sours but sours don't like me." Wild ales are one of my favorite styles but the acid reflux I get from them can be miserable. I've even had a few experiences where I wake up in pain after drinking a couple the night before. Now I take two tums before drinking a single glass but sometimes even that doesn't work with off the chart acid levels that are in russian river or lost abbey sours.

I don't hate them, but I only have them occasionally and usually in small quantities. They are just so far down in the style list that I usually decide on something else before getting to them.

I do enjoy sours but I don't see a huge variety and don't often drink them.
