I certainly like trying new beers and reading/joining BA has pushed me to seek out more styles, although like probably many people I tend to drink like 1/4 of those styles a lot more then the rest

76 - most of the other styles are going to be tough since they are either not my thing or nothing in that style in my distribution area.

84, but I just got 5 new styles on today's beer run. So once they're reviewed, I'll be knockin on 90s door...lol

As saison was all about a brew intended for farm workers to drink in more unless unlimited quantities and as every farm brewhouse simply brewed whatever it liked , a strong mass produced beer, however delicious it may be, fails on both counts to be a saison. There is of course nothing to stop a beer being labelled as such.
This thread is about beer styles and my original post was in reply to a cpmment made that many offerings are "styles" in name only.

As I said, you really should explain that to those Belgian brewers who brew it and call it a Saison and thereby influence many others to follow suit or to work out their own versions of what the Belgians brew.

Edit: Until folks like Dupont and the other Belgian breweries who make such beers stop calling it Saison and acknowledge the error of their ways, I'll continue to respect their wishes and treat it as a unique style.

I've had beers in places that have no name, and they were perfect because there was beer. Style was important, but unknown. Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia Herzegovina. Lagers well made and perfect for the dusty hikes through the mountains. It used to be Yugoslavia. Maybe not the best beers I've had, but some of the most appreciated for sure.

101, as others have stated I'm sure some styles I tried were merely some brewers best guess on the style...

Our brains went in two completely different directions in reaction to that post (as well as the one by @herrburgess ).

I immediately thought of those people wondering where they could get a "maibock" like Dead Guy, or a "hefeweizen" like Widmer's, or a "pilsner" like Miller Lite...

It certainly is true that many popular beers are of a style in name only; and the first response to those questions should, naturally be "you've actually never had a maibock (or hefeweizen, etc.), but here are a few examples to get you up to speed- "
