The hopping process has changed for Lupulin Hooey. Starting with the 10/26 canning date. There is definitely more bitterness. Let's see what everybody's opinions are...

Overall, I would drink both with out hesitation.

The extra bitterness didn't bug me. This was the first run, I will give it a few more runs to form an opinion as to which output I like better. Giving them some time to play with the new process and dial it in.

I prefer Hooey on tap . Pre/post 10/26 taste the same to me.

I've never had it before today, but, what I'm drinking now is amazing (10-26). Disappointed I didn't have this before now.

I have found Hooey to be great on tap and in can. The recent release in hand is pretty dang good. Juicy, hoppy flavor and soft mouthfeel. Sort of feels like splitting hairs at this point. Either way, I love what Lupulin is doing and had the privilege of trying another NEIPA of theirs recently called SPLOOSH Juice which was just a delight.

Hooey and Blissful have always been hit or miss. It seems every few batches there have been some inconsistencies. Tap is the best bet. Kind of over the Lupulin/TG mass circle jerk, Modist and Drekker are far superior and much more consistent.

Woof. Where to begin. First, I agree with you about TG and Lupulin Hooey. I have yet to drink a can that I enjoyed very much, and I enjoy it quite a bit on tap. Blissful, however, I have found varies between excellent and amazing each canning run (aside from the first couple). Modist, on the other hand, I stopped purchasing because of inconsistency. I've had one canned batch of Dreamyard that was very good, but still subpar to a batch on tap. I've had ones on tap and in cans that range from undrinkable (left the brewery it was so bad) to mediocre. I have not experienced as much batch variation with other small breweries as I have with Modist. I have not had the newer beers people like from Drekker. A year or so ago they made the worst beer I'd ever paid money for. I recently tried some pale ale on tap and disliked it quite a bit. So I would not say they are superior, though I have heard good things about Ecto.

I prefer my IPAs bitter. This new Hooey is excellent. I love the change!

I get that it is different with TG & the brew hub arrangement but is Lupulin & Modist kegging different batches than they are canning?

I did not like any of the Drekker beers unlike I tried 'Ectogasm' (have not tried 'Wheez The Juice). I sampled its beers at the Rare Beer Picnic, July in Moorhead, and I drain poured the samples. 'Ectogasm' is quite good, and recommended.

I think it will be interesting to see what happens with Hooey. My gutt instinct is that they will dial in the new drop hopping process that we will see it go back to the original product.

I had a 10/26 canned Hooey again last night and while I still enjoyed it, I did not enjoy it as much as the first 2 cans 10/26 cans I had. I also felt myself longing for the less bitter bite version, so I maybe moving to the camp of the original version... but I am going to wait to see where Hooey goes with the new dry hop process.

For Lupulin, as far as I know, the cans and kegs should be the same batch. There is a chance that there were a few batches that were not, I know for a while they were trying to keep up with demand to keep it flowing at the taproom and also get it out in cans. That being said, I have had plenty Hooey and Blissful on tap and in cans and for whatever reason, I have enjoyed it more on tap than in cans.

I am interested in trying the new dry hopped version on tap at the taproom to see what I think vs the can.

I had not tried a canned 'Hooey' until the 10/26/17 canning. I had tried 'Hooey' several times on tap, and from a growler.
I just drank another 10/26/17 can and the beer is very good, but one has to like the orange, hazy, very bright white head, soft mouth feel, and sweet juice flavor. There is more bitterness but it is not excessive, more of a citrus pith bitterness than a tongue numbing one.
I think future cannings of 'Hooey' will taste closer to pre-10/26/17 canning, unless consumer feedback directs otherwise.
I still prefer Lupulin 'Straight Hash Homie' over any of its other juice IPA's, but I will have to wait until April, 2018 for more of this.

Just curious what beers you thought were drain pours that weekend? Thought all their beers were great. Plus they had a DDH version of Wheez on that was kegged same day.

I didn't vote, I liked them both. The strong hop bite of the new stuff is great. but The old ones seems creamer on the finish which is great too. I haven't had many of these so called NEIPA's so I am not a great judge of the style

As to Drekker beers at the Rare Beer Picnic, July 2017, I had samples of 'Berries & Cream Coconut Killer IPA', 'People Eater Kettle Sour", 'Double Dry Hopped Wheez The Juice, and 'Nightman Cometh Russian Imperial Stout'. I did not like any of the above. I have subsequently purchased a 'Nightman Cometh' bottle and I will sample in the future.
I still think 'Ectogagm' is a tasty beer.

Has the brewery released anything since 10/26?

I asked at the brewery yesterday and they said they canned Wednesday and it started going out that day.

I haven't had a beer from Drekker I didn't like. Most recently I had Brain Freeze, and thought it was amazing.
