I'm a fan of the 32 oz growler but usually only fill from the local breweries. Once in a while I'll get a fill from a distributor/bar for special occasions but I find the pricing too high in most cases.

I'm mostly seasonal. I have a collection of half a dozen or so empty growlers in the back hall. My spouse will complain all winter "when are you going to do something about those." When the weather is nice, I hop on my bike and fill a few up. I put them in an ice chest and they stay cold in the back yard for three or four days. After a few months of this, my spouse quits complaining about the empties until the the next winter when the cycle repeats. Works quite well for me.

I used to get them occasionally, more so as a novelty that gave me something to collect/exhibit in the man cave. I only purchased beer that wasn't available in bottles or cans. I do have a couple from Town Hall Brewery in Minneapolis that I will gladly refill with Masala Mama IPA next time up there or get my son to bring one or two when he visits.
I'm glad that brewery is five hours away as I don't have any problem downing one of those in a sitting, at least I don't think so

Way down as the prices are going way up. Used to buy about 1 a week and now maybe 4-5 a year. Last I bought was head Hunter and it was great at $14 considering the 4 pack price. 99% of growlers are way more $ per oz than bottles or cans. If you look at it by the pint price at a bar growlers are good $ but I don't look that way. Why do I want to pay $16 for a beer sitting on the shelf for $11 a six pack?

    Enjoy

I've got just over 30 growlers so most of the time when I go to a brewery local to me I already have their growler. I usually try to get a growler from somewhere if I like their beer to add to the collection.

decreased for me. The wait is just too damn long at the top breweries.

I drive through Sacramento every weekday. There are a half dozen breweries (most good to excellent) within 5 minutes of the freeway. Usually on Fridays I pick one or two up for the weekend. Last night Bike Dog.

    My exact situation.

Will rarely get one for a get together but find it more convenient to use that tried and true format of the 6/4 pack of cans/bottles. Plus I know exactly how fresh it is. Friend picked up growler of Alesmith IPA notorious in NC to be old. Was horrible and I love Alesmith.

I love the 32oz growler. As stated above, you can get 2 of these filled for the same price as a 64oz growler, but you get to try two different beers. And you can't beat fresh draft beer!

I checked decreased, because I usually only get growlers filled at brewpubs when I'm traveling. Lately, I haven't been in places with brewpubs that I felt like getting a growler filled.

I used to get growlers very frequently 4 years ago, when they were priced very well, but within the past 2 years the price has become unjustifiable. Why are growler fills more money than packaged versions? The only time I make exceptions is when I visit breweries and they don't have bottles/can's of that particular beer (and it's still priced well). I usually get a 32 oz. howler fill when I visit Trillium, for instance. Crowler's on the other hand? Those rule. You can wait a lot longer before cracking them and there's no surcharge for the container.
