Doing a bit of Crowler research here and figured I'd ask the crew for some input. If you have any breweries that are doing a great job with their Crowler program, I'm all ears.

I usually get them from a liquor store in NJ. I think the only brewery I have ever purchased them from is Burley Oak in Berlin, MD.

i would definitely take crowlers over growlers any day, i usually cant finish an entire 64oz growler before it goes flat, so recently I have only been filling the 32oz growlers, something doesnt seem right about those to me, couldnt tell you why. BUT crowlers are also 32oz so I would definitely prefer the can over the bottle. plus I've heard that crowlers sustain better, maybe tigher seal or lack of UV to damage it? regardless, sad part is I am nowhere near anywhere that fills them. hopefully soon :/

I have not seen any. I would not mind trying a crowler.

On the fence (I voted other)...we don't have a lot of crowler places around me, and truth be told, I can't tell you the last time I got my growler filled, maybe that's the problem

I prefer crowlers to growlers. Growlers are a hassle, definitely do lose carbonation after one opening, and are almost never a value. Crowlers are a tighter initial package and an improvement on the concept of portable draft beer.

I live in Lexington, KY and one of our local breweries here (West Sixth) does Crowlers. They look freaking awesome and they are so easy. They are not reusable as they are basically a 32 oz can but I really like the portability of it and the life of the crowler is substantially longer than a growler. I would take them anywhere I could get them!

I like them on the occasion that I want to get a fill but may not want to drink it that night, very soon, etc. Recently we bought two crowlers, had one that night, the other over a week later and it was great.
Otherwise If I know I'm drinking it very soon, I will just fill my 32oz growler.

A few breweries in CO fill Crowlers, namely the originator, Oskar Blues. As for the Crowler vs Growler (or howler) argument, it all depends on the situation... For solo drinking, a howler over the course of a few nights is perfect, same goes for sharing within a week or so of filling. Crowlers are great for sending out though or for sharing at a much later date. I've had a Crowler with over two months on it and it drank wonderfully. The biggest variable either way is counter-pressure / Co2 backfill...

I always fill some crowlers up at Stone when I'm in San Diego to take home. Love the format

    I picked other because:
I only get growlers if it's something I can't get in bottles (and/or for cheaper). i.e. Beer shows up on tap, no bottles, I want it - crowler/growler it is.
In that case, it depends on if the growler station is counter pressure or not. Counterpressure? Going with the growler or grunt/howler (32oz growler). No counterpressure fill? Crowler it is. Didn't bring a grunt/howler so I'm unprepared? Crowler it is.

So it's not that it isn't my thing but it isn't my default. It's a great option if you want 32oz and don't want to buy another grunt.

Crowlers are the best beer shipping creation ever. As far as actually drinking them, I do have to set aside a bit more time for them or at least plan on limiting my "other beers" when I pop one open, but there's no replacing the awesome feeling of having that nice cold giant can. Damn tempted to just drink out if it, just because it just feels like it would be awesome.

Only place I've seen a crowler here is @ DC Brau and Burley Oak. I'm sure others do it but those are the only ones I've been too recently.

I still love my trusty growler tho, Can get it filled almost 99% of the places I visit with whatever they have on tap which is a plus for me.

I also love the fact you can clean it and reuse it over and over unlike a crowler, less waste on my part for mother earth.

Have a Crowler just down the road from me at Iron Abbey but have not taken advantage yet. I also know Bucks County Brewery is on the waiting list for one.

Love the Crolwer but not regularly available here in Vegas. Only ones I drank were from Stone and Dangerous Man. Both were drank about a week after they were filled and still tasted great.
