If nothing else was affected, what would you choose as the ideal ABV for your beer?

Yes I agree with most. You cannot drink 10 or 12% beers all day. I do enjoy them. But My vote is for 8% which would be perfect. Having no alcohol would not be the same as that boozey taste after they warm up is part of the flavor.

7-9% and I was really surprised to see me with the majority! =)

Voted 7-9 for what I'd prefer most of the time. Enough to get the job done without having to drink a bunch while not killing you if you have a few. Although there will always be a place in my heart for 10%+ beers!

4.5% would be the sweet spot for me.

I picked other. If there was great beer with no alcohol, I'd buy and drink a lot of it. That said, sometimes, it's nice to catch a little buzz and I think 6% is a nice number.

You must be a man among men if you are drinking 3, 10%-12% beers a night. Either you are 300 pounds or get hammered often. Either way...

    Commendable.

Ive seen threads like this before - definitely an interesting topic. I would run out of money fast if I was drinking beer that was 0%. A higher alcohol percentage beer keeps me from spending all my money on beer.

But there are those times when a few higher alcohol beers increase my spending on beer. AKA buying under the influence.

Without a mention of time, this poll removes the effect of alcohol. If I nurse my 10% stout, different pace than quaffing the 8% dipa

7-9%. No real reason, just so happens that most of my favorite beers fall in this range.

    7-9% for me.

Interestingly, I was just thinking it would be great marketing if a beer like Victory Hop Devil was 6.66%... and turns out it probably is... label shows it as 6.7%. :grimacing:

I voted for 0% as well. If I need a buzz, there's always other options. I'd love to be able to drink as much craft beer as I wanted without getting intoxicated or worrying about calories.

Pretty sure I would not be drinking beer if it had 0%. I won't drink light beer because it's normally under 5%. I kind of feel ripped off if I spend $8 on a sixer that's below 5%. Does that make me a cheapskate or just frugal?

    4 for lighter bodied beers.
    6 for heavier bodied.

I like to have a few before I get drunk, but I'd also still like to be able to get drunk (with fewer calories).

Sadly, more often than not I'm drinking things at 7.2% or greater.

7%. Your ranges are too far apart for this poll to mean much IMHO.

If they'd taste exactly the same, I'd want them to be about 5% or so. That means I could enjoy more great beer in one session without getting extremely drunk.

I wouldn't want them to be much lower than that, because when I do want to get drunk I wouldn't want to have to drink a really large number of beers.

4-6% is ideal for me...with 5% being pretty close to perfect, IMO.
I can have a few, there's no burn, and beers in that range don't usually have to have any weird adjuncts or processes to tone them down.

0% so I could drink it during the day, at my desk at work, etc.

1-3% for those nights I want to spend all night out and drink socially for hours.

5-6 for nights at home having one or two beers.

Why not overlap where the options meet. Someone who enjoys 4-6% isn't mutually exclusive to the next rung up the ladder. If I find I'm more 5-7% than 7-9% it's because I have a definite threshold around 8, but I dont' feel much buzz below 5.
i.e. 4-6%, 6-8%, 8-10% is a structure that isn't so stratified, or segregated maybe is what I mean...
