Admittedly, it's been awhile since I fired up my 10 gal system, but I had a few problems that just seem weird. First, I had a spigot on 1 of my fermenters disintegrate (tear) where the threads meet the bulkhead part...thankfully this was discovered when the bucket was full of sanitizer. Next problem: pin hole leak in silicone tubing coming off CFC...I felt like the little Dutch boy until I located some idle electrical tape :grimacing::grimacing: and finally... pump crapped out about 1/2 way through the cool down...have had this happen before and attribute it to some shaky thermal overloads.

Anyone have similar problems? ...especially the pin holes in the silicone tubing?

Dang. That is a rough brew day. I've never had that many things go wrong at once. Maybe one every now and then, but my most common issues tend to be a problem with the TFO (the f*cking operator). It can only get better. I guess it's better to figure everything out on one batch then a spread out among several batches.

I love the simplicity of 5 gal batches! Belgian Wit on the agenda for this week

Yeah , been having problems in my latest brewing days. Kinda weird thing as well. Problems to get a proper mash PH, stuck mash tubes and pump, low efficiency and many other f*cking troubles along the whole process plus stuck fermentations.

I get pinholes on the silicone tubing that is use for my mash tun all the time. Not sure what causes them, but it drives me crazy.

What is weird is that I have a lot of silicone tubing, mostly for pump xfer hoses, but the only ones that seem to leak are the very short ones used for camlock barb fittings. I am going to stiffen them with a larger OD vinyl hose on the outside I think...worth a try...maybe.
