Specialist is definitely a pub-only release, a la Big Red, Cultivateur, etc.

This is an emerging trend with the entire reserve line for me.

I bought a bottle of Jubel at the Portland Pub, then got a glass because I realized I wanted to know whether it'll be worth aging a $17 bottle. The glass was good - I had a difficult time telling whether it was spicy or was just alcohol "hot". I think it was the latter, which is promising for letting it sit for a while.

The bar was busy at lunchtime release day, but not so much that I was unable to find a seat. I think the number and cost of Deschutes special releases probably has something to do with it. Most of their reserves are great beers, but that is a hell of a price tag.

I'll try. We may make a special trip to Portlandia just for you. They just re-stocked and have some left. Post an ISO, yo. I'm pretty sure someone would hook you up for some Prairie goodness.

Isn't the best after date sometime this month? I opened my first bottle last week and it's drinking real nice. Lot of sweet caramel and dark fruits in the taste. It's real good.

I picked up a bottle of Jubel 2015 at my local (PDX area) Fred Meyer. They didn't know the price, so I got it for $10. What is the real price?

Why is this thread called "Poor Jubel"?

I think the OP was referring to the fact that nobody was hyped up for the release. Sounds like there were no lines at the pub to buy bottles.

Ah, got it. I think it's a good thing. I was able to pick up a bottle yesterday, no fuss, plenty available.
