Bottles of this beer have a best-before date on the label. Does anyone know how long that is from the bottling date? I drank a fresh one in Ypres early this year and it was a very pleasant surprise. After returning to the U.S. I bought a bottle without noticing it was expired and the beer was putrid. Bleh. As Poperings is a hop-centric beer, I assume even before it goes bad it's going to lose flavor. I would like suggestions on what time period before expiration it's going to be reasonably fresh--assuming it's stored in a reasonable manner, which there's no way of knowing.
We carry the draft when we can get it on a fresh shipment. I've never had a bottle in th US I thought was nearly as good as what you are served in Belgium or draft in the united states so I never carry the bottles. Not saying they don't exist I the Us...but I've never had one.
Thanks, that makes sense. I'll just wait until it hits a rotating draft here or I'm fortunate enough to return to Belgium.
