Here is my newly made portable kegerator. I wanted something I could take tailgating or camping. I purchased the cheapest keg I could find to test it out and work out all the kinks (now I just need help drinking that crap!) It holds a 1/6 keg easily, and a 1/4 keg barely. Bags of ice have lasted about 5 days. I just froze some plastic bottles of ice and ice packs and they seem to be working well.
Way nicer than a jockey box and should last a good long time. Crazy awesome job! Strap the cooler permanently to a dolly and put a 2.5 lb tank/strap mount on the dolly and you are the life of the party!
Great idea but sounds like trouble. I could see myself a few deep thinking it's a good idea to walk down the street with that bad boy.
It would also be pretty cool to spray paint the whole thing with a cool design of some chalkboard paint.
I could parade naked with this thing up and down the driveway and probably not raise an eyebrow. If I get to the end of it, I might get busted. Maybe. Just maybe.
You don't have any issues with the water leaking out? Normally coolers like this don't seal well enough to turn on end without the melted ice leaking out the bottom. Just curious, since I would love to build a portable kegerator, but was looking at using the Igloo Ice Cube to keep everything upright.
Couple answers: Yes, the ice leaked. I can fit approximately four frozen two litter bottles. Two on the back, two on top. Thus no more leaking. It goes totally unnoticed when wheeled around. When you Stan it up and start pouring people notice. Isn't a corny keg slightly smaller than a 1/6? The pic is a 1/4, so I am sure a corny would fit no problem. Paint, decals and stickers are hopefully in the works. At least something to dress it up a bit.
Isn't it not recommended to lay a CO2 tank on its side? Especially if it's full, couldn't the liquid pour into the regulator and cause damge?
